What are the responsibilities and job description for the Youth Summer Assistant Coordinator position at CHINESE COMMUNITY CENTER?
POSITION SUMMARY:
The Youth Summer Assistant Coordinator works towards optimizing the academic and scoio-emotional development of the campers during the summer. They are responsible for creating curriculum that ties in with TEKS, recruiting volunteers for the program, organize field trips for the students and represent CCC’s mission of bridging East and West through educational, social, and cultural activities.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
· High School graduate
· At least 18 years old
· CPR/First Aid certified
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
· Some college credit hours
· Valid driver license
· 0-1 year of teaching experience
· Proficient in an Asian language is a plus
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
o Develop age-appropriate, theme-based curriculum units for subject-based and enrichment classes;
o Organize weekly fieldtrips, including scheduling, confirmation, and transportation;
o Create and implement leadership, service learning, and community service opportunities for program participants and teen volunteers;
o Select, manage, and evaluate teen volunteers (Counselors-In-Training) and develop curriculum for leadership development within the program;
o Coordinate overall camp activity schedules (hourly, daily, weekly, and monthly); and
o Assist with day-to-day operations as needed, including providing support to students, parents, and teachers, responding to camp inquiries, and coordinating activities with other departments.
o Assist with driving for morning and evening pick-ups and Drop off of campers.
o Ability to drive 15-passenger van.

o Attend professional development trainings when offered.
PERIODIC FUNCTIONS:
- Implement a new community service program for area high school students.
- Promote youth recreational activities.
- Propose and initiate other projects in collaboration with the Youth Program Manager.
· Perform other related duties as assigned

PHYSICAL DEMANDS
· Standing: Must be able to stand for long periods of time when teaching or supervising active games.
· Sitting: May have to sit for an extended period of time when teaching in classrooms or doing administrative duties.

· Bending: Must be able to kneel, stoop, or crouch to interact with children.
· Walking: Must be able to walk or run to observe and interact with children in a classroom setting and outdoors.

WORKING CONDITIONS:
· Monday through Friday, 35-40 hours/week.
· Seasonal position during summer months (May – August)
· This position requires attendance of monthly after hour staff meetings.
Pay: From $14.00 per hour
