Purpose of Job
This position will support the Treasury team, with senior trader/manager oversight. The successful candidate will be expected to contribute to Treasury department functions including liquidity management, money market and other activities assigned, and business area communications with inter-department and Head Office. Opportunities exist for hardworking and growth-focused candidate to perform deep-dive in specific products area, or develop knowledge and expertise in relevant cross-product skills.
Note: This position may start at entry level, depending on the applicant’s working experience and qualifications. For successful candidate, the position provides a career path towards trader position or more senior role in the Treasury team.
Primary Responsibilities:
- Responsible for research, market analysis, presentation materials or report writing in focal areas as assigned by the Treasurer or senior manager.
- Help to manage daily cash flow and funding positions, provide analysis and prepare forecast to assist in bank liquidity management and . Monitor various accounts of the Branch and ensure that cash transfers are properly booked and executed.
- Help to input and validate transaction documents, records and system data. Assist with trade system testing, and liaise effectively with middle and back office staff as necessary.
- Help to monitor financial market, focus on short-term interest rates markets and instruments, and develop solid foundation of knowledge in relevant Treasury business areas.
- When ready, the assistant trader will be given more responsibilities in handling MM/YCD/other short-term interest rate transactions, including interbank funding/placement trade execution in Asian market hours, or on behalf of HO business.
- Any other specific tasks and responsibilities that may be assigned by the Treasurer or senior manager.
Additional Responsibilities
- Provide credit application supporting and FI limit maintenance; collect and update counterparty KYC documents as per Compliance requirement.
- Attend annual BSA/AML training program, assume responsibility as appropriate, to report suspicious activity to BSA/AML Officer.
- Attend and pass all required internal training program and tests offered by the bank.
Qualifications Required
- Ideal candidate will have minimum 2-3 years of relevant experience in the banking or financial industry.
- Minimum of Bachelor's degree, majoring in Finance, Economics, or Engineering/Math. Ability to demonstrate analytical and research skills or a strong quantitative background is highly desirable.
- Excellent organizational and interpersonal skills; attention to detail and solid communication skill. Strong working knowledge of Microsoft Excel and PowerPoint is required.
- Able to work independently and willing to take on challenging responsibilities.
- Flexibility, adaptability and team approach. Willing to cover or work after-hour in Asia time zone.
- Both English and Chinese writing and oral communication skills are required.
The estimated base salary range for this position is $75,000 and $120,000 per year. Actual compensation may vary based on factors such as work experience, skillset, education and other qualifications.
