Founded in 2000, China Labor Watch (CLW) is an independent non-profit organization dedicated to protecting workers’ rights in global supply chains. Our mission is to investigate and expose labor violations, hold corporations accountable, and advocate for fair labor standards. CLW’s research and investigations have been widely cited by major international media, governments, human rights organizations, and labor groups.
As a small but highly impactful team, every member plays a crucial role in operations and international advocacy. This position offers hands-on experience in labor rights research, nonprofit management, and global advocacy.
Position Overview
CLW is seeking a Senior Program Manager / Program Manager to lead program implementation, support fundraising, and oversee administrative functions. The role supports organizational operations across finance, strategy, administration, and external communications.
Key Responsibilities
Program Responsibilities
Work with the Director and team members to coordinate program deliverables and activities.
Support data collection and documentation.
Assist project partners to ensure high-quality deliverables (including financial and narrative reports).
Monitor grantees, contractors, and consultants for full compliance with procurement policies, financial reporting requirements, and evaluation plans.
Coordinate regular meetings (domestic and international), including facilitating discussions, drafting agendas, and tracking action items.
Collaborate closely with internal colleagues (e.g., social media/communications and finance) to achieve program goals.
Under the Director’s guidance, oversee contract fulfillment, including regular communications with contractors, updating reports, vetting final products, and compiling closeout documents.
Draft, review, and edit periodic reports, proposals, and other documents for submission to donors as requested.
Financial Oversight
In partnership with the Program Director/Manager and Finance team, monitor and track payment requests, burn rates, accounting documents, reimbursements, and travel expense reports.
Help manage multiple expenditure accounts by tracking multi-currency finances, drafting spending plans, and providing cost projections.
Administration
Draft and edit specialized documents such as grant agreements, consultant contracts, grantee reporting requirements, and contract amendments.
Coordinate domestic and international travel logistics.
Develop and maintain program, financial, correspondence, and contract files.
Ensure adherence to CLW and donor policies and procedures.
Translate partner documents or other program materials (Chinese/English) as needed.
Other Duties
Conduct subject-matter research as needed.
Contribute to public outreach and communications, including managing social media accounts, writing blogs, and drafting promotional materials.
Support planning and execution of internal and external events (announcements/invitations, guest coordination, social media promotion, and live tech support).
Draft concept notes and support new fundraising opportunities.
Recruit, onboard, and manage seasonal interns, including task assignment and professional development.
Provide administrative support to overseas partners/offices as needed under supervisor guidance.
Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree or above (preferred fields: International Relations, Public Policy, International Business, Political Science, Economic Development, or related).
At least 5 years of relevant professional experience (e.g., fundraising, program support/management, public relations, administrative management).
Full professional proficiency in Chinese and English (spoken and written); ability to independently handle bilingual documents and communications.
Excellent writing, research, and analytical skills.
High initiative; proven ability to manage multiple detailed tasks with limited supervision.
Proficiency with office and collaboration tools (Word, Excel, Google Docs, Asana, etc.).
Strong financial acumen; ability to help develop and monitor project budgets.
Prior experience in nonprofits, international projects, or the labor-rights field is preferred.
Ability to work effectively in a diverse, cross-time-zone team environment; high cultural competence.
Compensation & Benefits
Salary commensurate with experience and qualifications; anticipated range: USD 60,000–80,000.
