Job Overview
We are seeking a dynamic and vigilant Asset Protection Specialist to join our team and safeguard our assets, employees, and customers. In this energetic role, you will be at the forefront of security operations, utilizing your expertise in surveillance, criminal investigation, and conflict management to prevent theft, reduce loss, and ensure a safe environment. This is not a traditional security role. It combines hospitality, customer service, and safety leadership to enhance both the guest experience and team member environment. Asset Protection Specialists are active, professional, and approachable stewards of Chillwater’s culture, safety, and brand values.

Core Responsibilities
The primary duty is to ensure the safety and security of everyone and everything on the premises, from the entry to the exit:

• Welcoming & Check-In Experience: Greet all visitors warmly, manage the check-in process efficiently, and verify identification to ensure compliance with age and legal requirements.
• Safety, Security & Support: Maintain a visible presence to deter incidents, monitor the premises (including entry/exit and perimeters), and de-escalate situations with tact and empathy.
• Compliance and Reporting: Ensure strict adherence to all security protocols, state cannabis laws, and company Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs). This includes reporting and responding to any safety, security, or compliance incidents.
• Emergency Preparedness: Support emergency procedures and preparedness plans (e.g., fire, evacuation, severe weather response).
• Theft Prevention: Monitor for potential theft or fraud from both customers and employees, which may involve using surveillance systems (CCTV) and conducting investigations.
• Access Control: Regulate access to restricted areas and ensure all product and assets are secure.

• Physical Stamina: The role requires being physically present and mobile, often involving standing or walking for extended periods, and sometimes lifting up to 30-50 pounds.
• Understanding of applicable cannabis laws and regulations, safety regulations, local municipal codes and organizational rules, and standard operating procedures.

Safety, Security & Support

• Serve as a visible, approachable, and responsive presence to deter incidents and maintain a calm, orderly environment.
• Monitor key areas of the premises, including store entry/exit points and site perimeters, to ensure guest and team safety, comfort, and compliance.
• De-escalate situations using empathy, tact, and clear communication.
• Support team members and store operations in maintaining safety, cleanliness, compliance, and smooth guest flow by escorting guests and remaining alert and mobile throughout the store.
• Respond promptly and appropriately to any safety, security, or compliance incidents.
• Assist with emergency procedures and preparedness, including fire drills, evacuations, and severe weather responses.
• Conduct regular visual inspections and checks in accordance with SOPs to maintain a secure and hazard-free environment.

Qualifications

• At least one year of guest-facing or concierge experience strongly preferred.
• Familiarity with POS systems and/or compliance technology is preferred.
• Security, military, or law enforcement experience is a plus when combined with a strong commitment to guest-first, hospitality-focused service.
• Ability to work a flexible schedule, including mornings, days, nights, weekends, and holidays, to meet business needs.
• Reliable, responsible, and dependable attendance is required.
• Must successfully pass all required background checks, including state-specific cannabis employment requirements.
• Possess a valid driver’s license or state-issued ID.
• Must be 21 years or older and meet all state-specific cannabis employment requirements.
• Must comply with all applicable legal and company regulations for working in the cannabis industry.

• Outdoor duties in varying weather conditions may be required.
• Exposure to cannabis and/or allergens that may be present in an environment where cannabis is handled and stored.

Pay: $22.00 - $25.00 per hour
