Summary
The sanitation technician is responsible for ensuring the facility and its equipment are maintained in a safe, sterile, and hygienic condition. This role requires adherence to strict cleaning practices and procedures, proper use of cleaning chemicals and attention to detail to prevent contamination and ensure product safety and quality.
Shift Details:
2:30 PM - 9 PM (6 Hr Shift) Monday - Friday
Shift Differential included in hourly rate
30 Hours per week
Duties: Equipment cleaning - Disassemble, clean and reassemble production equipment, operating CIP (clean in place) and COP (clean out of place) and piping.
Sanitation procedures: Follow sanitation standard operating procedures.
General cleaning: Perform general housekeeping tasks, including sweeping and mopping in bathrooms and general area, and discarding waste.
Chemical handling: Handle and apply sanitation chemicals safely and in the proper concentrations.
Quality Assurance support: Assist QA team with sanitation checks, such as performing ATP (adenosine triphosphate) swabbing.
Record-keeping: Maintain accurate logs of cleaning activities, cycle times and chemical concentrations.
Safety compliance: Adhere to all safety protocols, including lockout-tagout procedures and wearing appropriate personal Personal Protective Equipment (PPE).
Preferred Qualification:
Education/ Experience:
- High school diploma or GED required.
- Experience in a food manufacturing or sanitation role preferred.
Skills and abilities:
- Physical fitness: Must be able to perform physically demanding tasks, such as lifting up to 50 lbs frequently, bending, squatting, and climbing.
- Attention to detail: A high level of attention to detail is critical for ensuring cleanliness and safety standards are met.
- Technical skills: Ability to operate sanitation equipment, read and interpret manuals and control sheets, and understand chemical safety is important.
- Teamwork: The ability to work collaboratively with others is key, as technicians will interact with different departments.
- Problem-solving: Must be able to follow instructions and procedures, and some roles require multitasking under pressure.
