Responsibilities
- Install, service, and repair HVAC systems including air conditioning units, boilers, refrigeration equipment, and ventilation systems.
- Read and interpret schematics, blueprints, technical manuals, and electrical diagrams to diagnose issues accurately.
- Perform electrical diagnostics and troubleshoot electrical systems within HVAC equipment using tools such as ohmmeters.
- Conduct routine maintenance on HVAC systems to ensure peak performance and compliance with safety standards.
- Repair mechanical components including pumps, motors, valves, and ductwork while utilizing hand tools effectively.
- Diagnose complex issues involving refrigeration, ammonia refrigeration systems, building automation controls, and plumbing connections.
- Maintain detailed service reports, logs of repairs performed, parts used, and system conditions for record-keeping and future reference.
- Provide exceptional customer service by explaining repairs clearly and ensuring client satisfaction during every interaction.
- Adhere to EPA regulations by handling refrigerants responsibly and maintaining certification standards.
- Assist in HVAC system design projects by collaborating with engineers or contractors to optimize system performance.
- Support property maintenance tasks related to mechanical systems to ensure safety and operational efficiency.
Experience
- Proven experience as an HVAC service technician or in a similar role within construction or property maintenance environments.
- Hands-on experience with HVAC system installation, repair, and maintenance across various types of equipment including boilers and refrigeration units.
- Strong understanding of schematics, electrical wiring diagrams, mechanical systems repair, and building automation systems.
- Familiarity with plumbing connections related to HVAC applications is highly desirable.
- Knowledge of electrical diagnostics tools such as ohmmeters or multimeters is essential for troubleshooting electrical issues.
- Experience working with ammonia refrigeration or other specialized refrigerants is a plus.
- Ability to read technical manuals and schematics accurately while applying mechanical knowledge effectively in the field.
- Valid driver’s license with a clean driving record is required for field service responsibilities.
