About the role:
We’re hiring one organized, construction-literate person to own the desk side of getting our projects built — takeoffs, estimating, purchasing, and day-to-day project coordination — so our field team can focus on building.
This is a hands-on, high-responsibility seat with room to grow. You’ll directly manage how we buy and keep jobs on track, work shoulder-to-shoulder with our construction manager, and have a direct line to the owner. What you’ll do
- Takeoffs & estimating — Produce material takeoffs and cost estimates for our semi-custom homes and multi-family projects; price options, selections, and change orders; keep costs accurate as scopes evolve.
- Purchasing & buyout — Turn takeoffs into purchase orders and vendor bids; negotiate pricing; maintain strong trade and supplier relationships; keep the vendor list and buyout calendar current.
- Materials logistics — Own delivery timing and staging across active projects; chase long- lead items; coordinate freight and barge into Juneau so nothing stalls the crew.
- Project coordination — Keep schedules and job tracking current in our construction-management software; sequence daily with the construction manager; help maintain our specification and selections library.
Note: this position runs the estimating and purchasing side — our field team handles on-site supervision.
What we’re looking for:
- 3 years in residential or multi-family construction estimating and/or purchasing
- Confident reading construction plans and drawings; solid material-takeoff and unit-cost purchasing experience
- Working knowledge of construction costs, materials, and methods; Southeast Alaska experience a plus
- Experience with structurally engineered plans and light commercial assemblies is a plus
- Strong negotiator and organizer who can juggle multiple concurrent projects without dropping details
- Self-directed, detail-oriented, and brings rigor to purchasing, cost tracking, and scheduling
- Experience with construction-management software (e.g., JobTread) a plus
