In addition to the residency experience, you’ll work full time within one of our inpatient settings,Pediatric/Adolescent Complex Medical units, Pediatirc Rehabilitation unit, or our Medical Group Home.

Program Overview
- Online lectures and discussions through University of Iowa’s nurse residency program
- Months 1 – 6: focus on communication, responsibilities of a professional nurse and decision making at the point of care.
- Months 7 – 12: engage in a Professionalism in Action Experience at Child Serve
- Monthly check-ins with Child Serve Clinical Educator to support your development.
- Hands-on practice performing pediatric sub-specialty clinical skills.
- Attainment of CEUs
- 3 12 hours shifts per week, days or nights shifts available, rotating weekends and holidays
- Benefit eligible , including medical, dental, vision plans, retirement with company match , and generous PTO accrual , including 16 hours of PTO front-loaded
- Within the nursing scope of practice, physician’s orders, and the care plan, make decisions and deliver a full range of nursing care based on the fundamentals of the nursing process.
- Maintain accurate, completed, and timely records as defined by nursing standards of practice and ChildServe policies and procedures.
- Communicate effectively, respectfully, and professionally with residents, physicians, families, school personnel, ChildServe staff, and others to assure assigned child’s care needs are assessed, communicated, and met.
- Provide training to patients, families, and staff as needed to help advance the skills and knowledge of all people associated with a child’s care delivery.
- Demonstrate good stewardship of ChildServe equipment, supplies, and environment.
- One year or less of RN experience
- Current valid license as a Registered Nurse in Iowa. Applicants planning to attain a RN license in the next 6 months are welcome to apply.
- Documentation of current Basic Life Support certification
- Ability to lift up to 35 lbs, be mobile within the assigned work area, and frequently bend, lift, reach, and stand.
- Ability to communicate effectively in reading, writing and speaking the English language.
