What are the responsibilities and job description for the RN/LPN Pediatric Respite (PRN) position at ChildServe?
The role of a Respite Nurse is to offer one-on-one time between a child and licensed nurse within the family’s home or community. Respite care is designed to give families a break from the day-to-day care involved in raising a child with special healthcare needs. ChildServe’s respite service allows parents to attend events for their other children, schedule appointments for themselves, or simply take time to recharge.

Schedule
- Primarily afternoons, evenings, and weekends. Can be regularly scheduled or as needed.
- Provide one-on-one nursing support in the home or community.
- Interact with the child and participate in fun activities.
- Complete electronic documentation and paper MARS.
- Possible skills used: medication administration, g-tube nutrition, seizure management, trach cares, etc.
- Current valid license as a RN or LPN in Iowa.
- Valid driver’s license with two or fewer violations in the past three years.
- Active BLS from the American Heart Association or American Red Cross.
- Ability to lift up to 35 lbs, be mobile within the clinic areas, and frequently bend, lift, reach, and stand.
- Ability to communicate effectively in (or through) reading, writing and speaking the English language.
