the Position Title: Clinical Therapist or Mental Health Counselor
Reports to: Executive Director
Position Overview: Provide counseling services to child and adolescent victims of sexual abuse, severe physical abuse (as defined by the Texas Family Code) and witnesses of violent crime and their non-offending family members and caregivers.
Additionally, as a member of the Polk County Child Fatality Review Team provide counseling services to siblings and parents who have experienced a child fatality.
Education:
Graduate degree in the mental health field with LPC- S, LPC or LPC Intern licensure w/required supervision, LCSW, or LMFT
Trauma-Focused Cognitive Behavioral Therapy training prior to/or completion of such training within 6 months of association
TFCBT (training provided)
Experience Preferred:
1-3 years’ professional experience in services for abused children
Play, adolescent, family, & group therapy experience
Knowledge of trauma & sexual/physical abuse dynamics
Experience with crisis intervention
Knowledge of law enforcement, CPS, and DA
Specific Job Responsibilities:
1.) Provide direct client services to child victims of sexual and serious physical abuse & their families
Provide individual, play, group, filial, and/or family therapy
Maintain case files including appropriate documentation regarding clients’ participation, treatment plans, progress notes, consultations, and terminations.
Conduct trauma-specific assessments
Provide crisis intervention to individuals and families
Assist victims in moving from investigations into the therapeutic setting
Maintain good standing with the Texas State licensing board and carry coverage of appropriate liability insurance.
2.) Work as a member of an interagency multidisciplinary team
Participate in monthly case review meetings and ongoing communication with team members
Provide on-going feedback to the team regarding victim’s progress/emotional state
3.) Collaborate and consult on mental health issues-
Maintains a strong working relationship with other CAC staff, partner agencies, school administrators, and community members.
Coordinate with other therapists and CAC staff
Participate in scheduled case staffing’s and those held on an as-needed basis.
Provide referrals on all cases needing psychiatric/medical consultation.
Participate in regular peer review
4.) Miscellaneous duties as assigned, including but not limited to
v Assist with general Center operations as needed
v Assist in providing community prevention training
v Participate in community and special events
