What are the responsibilities and job description for the RN - Specialty Program Coordinator (CCBDC) position at Childrens Hospital of The King's Daughters?
The RN – Specialty Program Coordinator performs a wide variety of patient care activities and accommodative services to support a defined patient population program or service (Sickle Cell, Bleeding & Clotting Disorders ,Oncology, Neuro-Oncology, Cellular Therapy). Demonstrates excellence in practice characterized by quality patient care and participation in formal and informal patient and staff education. Reports to Nurse Manager / Specialty Clinical Supervisor and works in close cooperation with and under the clinical guidance of the practice physician(s).
- ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
- Plans, provides, and monitors specific patient needs following established policies, procedures, and regulations.
- Participates in on-going quality assurance, maintains regulatory requirements, and assists in establishing and updating applicable policies and procedures.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
- LICENSES AND / OR CERTIFICATIONS
- MINIMUM EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS
- Bachelor’s Degree required or must be actively enrolled in a Bachelor’s program with graduation within three years. BSN preferred.
- MSN or specialty certification preferred.
- Technical and professional knowledge and skills unique to the clinical services provided, usually acquired through 3-5 years progressive clinical experience in the related specialty area.
- Pediatric experience preferred.
- CPR Training required and / or must be obtained within 45 days of hire. Pediatric Advanced Life Support certification required if necessary for the performance of the job role (applies to : Oncology, Neuro / Oncology, Late Effects, Sickle Cell, Cellular Therapy performing in the infusion area).
- APHON Chemotherapy and Biotherapy Provider Course and Maintenance required and / or must be obtained within 90 days of hire and COG (Children’s Oncology Group) membership required if necessary for the performance of job role (applies to : Oncology, Neuro / Oncology, Late Effects, Sickle Cell, Cellular Therapy performing in the infusion area).
- Valid Virginia driver’s license necessary if required for the performance of job role.

Provides developmentally appropriate psychosocial and clinical care.
Current Virginia state license as a Registered Nurse or Registered Nurse holding a valid Compact State license.
Professional knowledge of nursing theory and practice as it relates to the area of expertise.
Expected to work in a patient care environment with minimal exposure to environmental hazards such as, but not limited to, excessive noise, dust, or extremes in temperatures. Exposure to communicable diseases and moderately adverse working conditions due to the need to perform certain patient care activities can be expected.
