Additional Information Department: Clinical Resource Team Hours per week: 36, eligible for benefits Shift: 7a-7p, weekends and holidays Job Overview The Clinical Resource Nurse (CRN) serves as a system wide clinical resource to provide patient care in the following Critical Care areas: PICU, NICU, CICU, CPCU and acute cares based on individual assignments or as assigned through the Months program.  The CRN has the clinical knowledge, skills and competencies to provide nursing care commensurate with the unit. Department and division expectation. This position may encounter potentially volatile care situations that could result in bodily harm. Responsibilities Population Specific Care Neonate - <30 days Infancy - >30 days to 1yr Toddlers - >1yr to 3yrs Pre-Schoolers - >3yrs to 5yrs School age - >5yrs to 13yrs Adolescent - >13yrs to 18yrs Adult - >18yrs to 65yrs Essential Functions An employee in this position may be called upon to do any or all of the following essential functions. Delivers patient and family centered nursing care in one or more clinical areas while incorporating developmentally appropriate, culturally sensitive, evidence based care practices and methodologies. Anticipates and responds to changes in patient outcomes in the provision of care. Communicates and advocates patient values, preferences and expressed needs as part of the implementation of care plan, evaluation of care and assessment of patient/family learning needs. Build and maintains strong working relationships with multidisciplinary healthcare providers to provide individualized patient/family care and education while minimizing risks to the patient during transitions of care. Researches, compiles, and analyzes data and prepares case records, reports, and correspondence to facilitate communication, clinical decision making, error prevention, and care coordination. Collects, monitors, and reports on quality of care outcomes and measures; provides input into the continuous evaluation and improvement of internal quality and safety processes, procedures, and performance measures. Ensures compliance with clinical policies, procedures, and best practices in order to minimize the risk of harm to patients and providers. Researches, identifies, and implements evidence based practice to improve the quality of care provided to patients/families. Serves on department and organization-wide committees as directed. SCOPE AND LEVEL GUIDELINES: Fully qualified, full performance or journey level. COMPLEXITY: Duties assigned are generally complex and may be of substantial intricacy. SUPERVISION RECEIVED: Performs work with minimal supervisory oversight. Under general supervision, the employee receives assignments and is expected to carry them through to completion with substantial independence. Work is reviewed for adherence to instructions, accuracy, completeness, and conformance to standard practice or precedent. Recurring work clearly covered by guidelines may or may not be reviewed. Qualifications EDUCATION –  Bachelor’s Degree in Nursing (BSN) EXPERIENCE – Two years of nursing experience in a critical care setting CERTIFICATION(S) – BLS/CPR from the American Heart Association with at least 6 months left before expiration is required upon hire; ACLS and PALS required within six months of hire LICENSURE – Registered Nurse (RN). Physical Requirements Ability to Perform Essential Functions of the Job Body Movement Will frequently stand/walk up to 12 hours per day. Will frequently use hands while keyboarding and writing. Will frequently sit up to 2-4 hours per day while accessing computer, talking on the telephone, and while attending meetings. Back and Upper Body (lifting and carrying) Will occasionally lift/force exerted up to 100 pounds. Vision Constantly uses sight in performance for daily job duties. Hearing Constantly uses hearing in performance for daily job duties. Others Able to assist or assume direct patient care as census directly permits. Exposure to unsteady or falling patient: In the course of transferring a patient, may encounter a patient who falls or loses balance, causing employee to fall and/or bear the full weight of a patient.
