Summary

The Program Supervisor provides leadership and program management to the Success Coach model which assists youth and families who have achieved permanency through adoption, reunification, custody or guardianship. Success will be accomplished by increasing placement stability, decreasing reentries into foster care, promoting positive well-being of youth who have experience foster care and maintaining fidelity to the model.

Primary Job Functions

    1. Duties
  • Ensure that all services within the Success Coach program are delivered in accordance with the agency's mission, vision, and service philosophy while assuring services are organized and provided in a manner consistent with North Carolina state licensing rules, COA Standards, contract requirements, and all applicable state and federal laws that apply to the program.
  • Ensure adherence to all Success Coach contract performance measures.
  • Demonstrate a working knowledge of the local child welfare system, specifically adoptions, guardianship/custody and reunification.
  • Demonstrate a working knowledge of system barriers; responds to barriers as opportunities.
  • Ensure engagement, assessment and goal planning- Oversee recruitment for families for the Success Coach service and educate community as well as agency partners about service. Oversee and coach staff in the administration of a comprehensive assessment, goal planning, and case management services provided for youth and families to address placement stability, caregiver self-efficacy and child/family well-being.
  • Service Coordination- Build and maintain relationships with various community resources and interagency networks to increase referral/linkages for program staff to provide to families in an effort to increase appropriate community resources and informal supports to strengthen the family’s self-efficacy regarding post permanency resources.
  • Supervise staff providing cases management as needed to include collaboration, ongoing assessment, planning, facilitation, care coordination, referral to additional services/resources, and advocacy to meet the individual needs of the identified client and their family.
  • Provide staff with crisis prevention, intervention strategies and support and tools to engage in skill-building with families around problem-solving, self-advocacy, conflict resolution, and relapse planning.
  • Documentation- Review and ensure timely completion of documentation for evaluation purposes, as well as other documentation, record-keeping and reports, as required by agency policy or project guidelines (documentation is to be complete within 7 days of interaction with family); maintain confidentiality as required by statute/policy.
  • Support the planning and coordination of events for families or other professionals throughout the year.
  • Assist with any replication and/or training, workshop, group/event, or presentations as needed by the agency or state.
  • Facilitate and support individual and team staffing and meetings regularly.
  • Professional Development- Keep up to date on child welfare and post-care literature/best practice models and available community resources; attend relevant trainings to assist parents with skill-building and coaching.
  • Ability to react to change productively and handle other essential tasks or responsibilities as assigned by agency, director and/or grant.
  • Provide 24/7 telephone availability to assist staff and families in weathering a crisis.

Qualifications:

Job Qualifications

Education, Licenses & Certifications:

  • Minimum of Master of Social Work (MSW) or Master’s degree in human services field, with significant relevant experience required.
  • Clinical license to include one of the following: LCSW, LMFT, LCHMC is preferred.

Experience:

  • Minimum of 3-5 years’ experience in the child welfare, human services, or counseling field

  • Carry out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the agency's policies, procedures, program model and applicable laws. This includes recruiting, direct supervision, workforce development, and retention of employees according to agency policies and procedures.
  • Understanding of the impact and effects of childhood trauma.
  • Understanding of the child welfare continuum, to include child maltreatment, foster care, and adoption.
  • Understanding of adoption related dynamics and challenges.

Ability to:

  • Adhere to Social Work Code of Ethics or to the Code of Ethics appropriate to the applicable licensure/credentialing and comply with professional standards of the Child Welfare League
  • Display sensitivity to the service population's cultural and socioeconomic characteristics.
  • Perform other duties related to department goals and projects as needed.
  • Strong organizational skills, resource development, and budget development experience a plus.
  • Strong working knowledge of child welfare service systems for youth and young adults and an ability to bring together and collaborate with diverse community partners.
  • Maintain a valid North Carolina driver's license, adequate auto insurance, and have access to an operating vehicle to attend to CHS business.

Schedule Expectations

This position is a salary exempt job that will require some weekends, and evening work. Along with working our standard scheduled week. The ability to work flexible hours is required to meet business needs. If working remotely, will be required to be available by telephone and email during specified hours as required. Frequent travel is required to conduct business-related activities.
