Position Overview
The Children Youth & Family Collaborative (CYFC) is a nationally recognized nonprofit organization serving over 2,500 foster youth and youth on probation across more than 50 sites throughout Southern California. CYFC is committed to improving educational outcomes through a holistic, community-driven approach that integrates academic support, mentorship, and enrichment programming.
Through strategic partnerships with Los Angeles Unified School District (LAUSD), colleges and universities, the Department of Children and Family Services (DCFS), the Department of Probation, and community-based organizations, CYFC delivers high-impact programming designed to support college and career readiness.
CYFC is seeking highly motivated, dependable, and mission-aligned After-School Tutors / Youth Education Specialists to support high school students in a structured after-school environment. This role is essential to ensuring program quality, student engagement, and full compliance with LAUSD Beyond the Bell (BTB) standards.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide one-on-one and small group academic support in core subject areas including Math, Language Arts, and Science
- Facilitate structured academic enrichment and youth development activities aligned with CYFC programming
- Serve as a mentor and positive role model, fostering student engagement, accountability, and growth
- Monitor and document student progress, attendance, and academic outcomes on a daily basis
- Ensure completion of homework support and academic goal-setting activities
- Maintain accurate and timely daily, weekly, monthly, and quarterly documentation in compliance with CYFC and BTB requirements
- Collaborate with the Site Coordinator to ensure all reporting, attendance tracking, and compliance deliverables are submitted within required timelines
- Maintain confidential and organized student records in accordance with legal and organizational standards
- Actively support a safe, structured, and inclusive program environment
- Participate in required staff meetings, trainings, and program evaluations
- Perform additional duties as assigned to support site operations and program success
Performance Expectations
- Maintain minimum 90% student engagement and participation within assigned groups
- Ensure 100% completion of required documentation, submitted accurately and on time each day
- Demonstrate measurable contribution to student academic improvement and assignment completion
- Maintain full compliance with CYFC, BTB, and LAUSD operational standards at all times
- Participate in weekly check-ins and performance reviews with Site Coordinator
- Contribute to maintaining a Level 4 (Exceeds Expectations) program standard
Compliance & Professional Standards
- Staff must wear CYFC-issued uniform or approved program attire at all times while on site
- Personal phone use is strictly limited to designated breaks and lunch periods
- Staff are required to remain actively engaged and present for the full duration of scheduled hours
- All timekeeping, attendance, and reporting must be accurate, verifiable, and completed in real time
- Staff must adhere to all LAUSD BTB policies, safety protocols, and supervision requirements
- Professional conduct is required at all times; staff represent CYFC while on-site and in uniform
- Any conduct that may compromise student safety, program integrity, organizational reputation, or funding relationships is strictly prohibited
- Failure to meet compliance or professional standards may result in disciplinary action, up to and including termination
Program Alignment
This position operates within the framework of the LAUSD Beyond the Bell (BTB) Program. All staff are expected to meet district expectations related to program quality, student supervision, safety compliance, and documentation standards.
Reporting Structure
- Reports directly to: Site Coordinator
- Works in coordination with: Program Leadership and CYFC Executive Team (as applicable)
- Required participation in: site meetings, trainings, compliance reviews, and program evaluations
Minimum Qualifications
- Associate’s Degree (AA) from an accredited institution (required)
- Minimum of 1 year of tutoring, teaching, or academic support experience (required)
- Experience working with at-risk, underserved, foster, or probation-involved youth strongly preferred

Training & Onboarding Requirements
- Completion of CYFC onboarding and program training prior to working with students
- Completion of all required BTB-aligned compliance trainings
- Participation in ongoing professional development and staff development sessions
- Familiarity with CYFC curriculum, enrichment models, and reporting systems

Employment Details
- Job Type: Part-Time (Up to 15 hours per week)
- Compensation Rate: $21/hr
- Schedule: Monday through Friday (After-School Hours)
- Work Location: In-Person (Los Angeles Area High School Sites)
