Position Supervises: Site Coordinators and Assistant Site Coordinators

Work Schedule: 9:30 AM – 6:00 PM, Monday - Friday

POSITION SUMMARY

The Youth Program Success Coach plays a vital role in ensuring high-quality, safe, and engaging out-of-school time (OST) programming across multiple sites. This flexible, mobile position directly supervises Site Coordinators and Assistant Site Coordinators and supports all OST staff through coaching, mentoring, modeling best practices in youth engagement and behavior management, suggesting and facilitating program improvements, and being counted in daily staff-to-youth ratios as needed to maintain compliance and program quality.

This position will support staff providing afterschool programs in the following schools: Garfield Elementary, Hawthorne Elementary, Jane Addams Elementary, Lowell Elementary, and Whittier Middle School.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

Coaching & Staff Development

  • Supervise, mentor and support Site Coordinators and Assistant Site Coordinators through regular site visits
  • Mentor and coach Youth Development Professionals
  • Complete staff evaluations
  • Monitor staff training completion and assist staff in signing up for required trainings
  • Onboard and train new site staff, including Site Coordinators, Assistant Site Coordinators and Youth Development Professionals
  • Provide feedback and coaching to staff
  • Work with Operations Manager and human resources to facilitate warnings, performance improvement plans, or corrective action plans when necessary
  • Foster a positive team culture by actively supporting staff morale, recognizing achievements, and contributing to strategies that improve staff retention and engagement

Program Support & Ratio Coverage

  • Float between assigned sites to provide coverage during staff absences or high-need times
  • Step into active supervision roles and be counted in the daily 1:15 staff-to-youth ratio when needed
  • Assist with transitions, activities, and behavior support during
  • Be physically present at each assigned school according to set minimum frequency and staffing needs and communicate with supervisor weekly schedule for site visits

Quality Assurance

  • Observe program delivery and provide appropriate feedback to ensure consistency, quality and alignment with VOA Dakotas goals
  • Collaborate with Site Coordinators to troubleshoot challenges and celebrate successes
  • Support implementation of enrichment activities and positive behavior systems
  • Collect and report site-level data related to youth progress, attendance, behavior incidents and program quality to inform continuous improvement efforts

Collaboration & Communication

  • Participate in twice monthly leadership team meetings
  • Communicate regularly with the Operations Manager and other staff
  • Build and maintain strong relationships with school staff, families and community partners

General

  • Attend scheduled meetings and required trainings
  • Complete all trainings required by licensing and organization within identified timeframe
  • Report any safety, maintenance or equipment concerns as soon as possible
  • Maintain high level of confidentiality with sensitive information
  • Report any instances (or suspected instances) of child abuse and neglect to proper authorities

Responsible for other duties as assigned.

POSITIONS QUALIFICATIONS SKILLS & ABILITIES

Education: A high school diploma or GED is required. An associate’s degree or higher in education, social work, or related field is preferred.

Experience: Minimum of four years of experience working with youth or two years of experience plus a relevant associate’s degree or higher. Previous supervisory experience strongly preferred.

Skills: Demonstrated ability to coach and support staff in a positive, strengths-based manner. Strong understanding of child and adolescent development, trauma-informed care, and behavior management. Ability to work independently, travel between sites, and adapt to changing needs.

Licenses: Valid driver's license and reliable transportation.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS

A. Ability to Stand, Walk, sit, manually manipulate, reach outward and above shoulders, speak, climb, crawl, squat, kneel, and bend on a daily basis

B. Capability to Lift, carry, push or pull up to 30 lbs on a daily basis
