Children's Wisconsin has an opportunity for a Regulatory & Emergency Management Specialist. The ideal candidate will have a clinical background in such areas as nursing, respiratory therapy, audit, quality, safety or accreditation.
Location: Hybrid ( must be local to Milwaukee to come onsite)
What you will do:
Ensures the organization's compliance with regulatory standards in accordance with the Joint Commission, Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services and other pertinent regulatory agencies. Assists in the public reporting processes at Children's Hospital and Health System (CHHS). Monitors and leads public reporting of quality measures internally and externally. Serves as an organizational content expert for survey reported data. Collaborates with leadership and staff to accurately communicate and document reporting process. Works with internal and external clients to organize the various components needed to facilitate and successfully complete major projects. Serves as a consultant and resource that fosters a reliable and effective policy and procedure system for the organization. Serves as a liaison between process owners, key stakeholders and hospital councils/committees in an effort to ensure regulatory compliance and to promote patient safety and the use of evidence based clinical practice as appropriate.

- Works directly with campus specific standards champions on all regulatory and emergency management improvement initiatives.
- Assists in the facilitation of the survey process including agenda, survey coordination, post survey communication, development and submission of evidence of standards compliance (ESC) or equivalent documents.
- Monitors the efficacy of the Code Blue team and Rapid Response Team (RRT) initiatives, coordinates processes, performance and quality improvement activities as they relate to Code/RRT events. Reviews and evaluates standardized data reports of Code Blue and RRT events to evaluate events for clinical/systems issues and identifies trends.
- Develops, conducts, and coordinates training and education along with Infection Prevention to high-consequence infectious diseases (HCID).
- Develops, conducts, and coordinates training and education of Hospital Command Center Command and General Staff on their role in emergency response. Coordinates education of Children’s staff on the Incident Command System and ensures availability of equipment and supplies in the Command Center.
- Responsible for the development, revision, and implementation of emergency plans, policies and procedures.
- Coordinates and collaborates with Patient Safety, Risk Management, and key stakeholders on identified organizational risks that apply to the regulatory and emergency management environment.
- Professional level of knowledge acquired through completion of a Bachelor's degree in nursing, health care administration, or other clinical field.
- Two or more years of nursing and/or health care clinical experience.
- At least one year of quality improvement experience, to include consultation or direct work in quality improvement or rapid cycle improvement, failure modes analysis, systems thinking concepts, team facilitation, performance measurement and/or stratification of data.
- Content expert in patient safety and quality improvement concepts. Excellent interpersonal and communication skills to negotiate collaborative efforts with other departments and to implement patient safety standards and guidelines.
- Ability to problem solve, make independent decisions, formulate reports, perform statistical analysis and interpret data. Independent judgment to develop, implement and monitor clinical guidelines and process improvement that assures quality care and cost effective service.
- A high level of analytical ability to resolve complex patient care problems, administrative problems and research issues.
- Knowledge of information systems and computer operations (including Windows, Excel, Access, Adobe Acrobat, MIDAS) in a hospital environment.
- Knowledge and experience working directly with electronic health records.
- Experience with healthcare regulatory reporting requirements preferred.
