Make an Impact Beyond the Dental Chair
Children's Volunteer Health Network (CVHN) is seeking a compassionate, dependable Registered Dental Hygienist to join our Preventative Mobile Dental Clinic (PMDC) team and help provide essential preventive dental care to children throughout Northwest Florida.
This is a unique opportunity for an RDH who wants to use their clinical skills in a mission-driven environment. Rather than working in a traditional dental office, our hygienists bring care directly to children through CVHN's school-based mobile dental program-helping remove barriers to care and build healthier smiles.
About the Position
The RDH provides high-quality preventive dental care and oral health education while creating a safe, positive experience for the children we serve. Clinical services include preventive hygiene care within the RDH scope of practice, including oral assessments, intraoral imaging, prophylaxis, sealants, fluoride, SDF, and patient education.
Because CVHN is a small nonprofit operating a mobile healthcare program, this role extends beyond chairside care. Our hygienists are active members of the CVHN team and share responsibility for making each clinic day safe, efficient, welcoming, and successful.
Key Responsibilities
· Provide compassionate, high-quality preventive dental care to pediatric patients and age-appropriate oral health education.
· Maintain accurate and timely clinical documentation and identify concerns requiring follow-up or referral.
· Follow all clinical, infection-control, safety, privacy, and regulatory standards.
· Support efficient patient flow, mobile clinic setup and breakdown, organization, supplies, equipment, and clinic readiness.
· Communicate effectively with CVHN staff, school personnel, volunteers, families, and community partners.
· Adapt professionally to changes in patient volume, school schedules, travel, staffing, and the day-to-day realities of mobile healthcare.
· Contribute to a collaborative, respectful, solutions-oriented team environment and represent CVHN professionally in the community.
· Participate in appropriate CVHN community, mission, and fundraising activities, including occasional evening and weekend events.
Who We're Looking For
We are looking for someone who combines strong clinical skills with flexibility, professionalism, and a heart for serving children. A successful CVHN hygienist is organized, dependable, adaptable, comfortable working independently, and committed to being a collaborative member of a small nonprofit team.
Most importantly, our RDHs understand that the children we serve may face significant barriers to dental care. Compassion, patience, sound judgment, and the ability to make children feel comfortable and respected are essential.
Qualifications
· Current Florida Registered Dental Hygienist license in good standing.
· Current CPR/BLS certification and other credentials required for RDH practice.
· Strong clinical, organizational, communication, and documentation skills.
· Ability to work effectively with children from diverse backgrounds and circumstances.
· Ability to work independently and collaboratively within a small, mission-driven nonprofit team.
· Ability to meet the physical and operational requirements associated with a mobile dental clinic.
· Reliable transportation and ability to work at varying school and clinic locations as required.
· Pediatric experience a plus.
· Bilingual experience in Spanish or Portugese a plus.
Why CVHN?
At CVHN, dental hygiene is about more than cleaning teeth. Our team helps children receive preventive care they may otherwise go without, identifies dental needs before they become more serious, provides oral health education, and helps connect children with additional care when needed.
Join us in creating happy, healthy smiles for children across Northwest Florida.
