This is a flexible part-time position based in Roxbury, reporting to the Family Stabilization Specialist Supervisor. Your goal: help families achieve stability and meet service plan goals through in-home, hands-on support.

The Role: Family Support Specialist As a Family Support and Stabilization (FSS) Specialist, you’ll partner with the Department of Children and Families (DCF) to support families facing complex challenges. This is a flexible part-time position based in Roxbury, reporting to the Family Stabilization Specialist Supervisor. Your goal: help families achieve stability and meet service plan goals through in-home, hands-on support.
What You’ll Do
- Conduct 1–2 weekly home visits with families to provide concrete support and coaching.
- Collaborate closely with DCF collaterals and other providers to ensure coordinated care.
- Support families in accessing education, employment, medical care, housing, and legal resources.
- Provide advocacy and crisis support as needed.
- Maintain accurate case records and documentation, including service plans, assessments, and progress notes.
Required
- Bachelor’s degree in Social Work, Human Services, or related field, or 5 years of direct case management or counseling experience.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills.
- Solid time management and documentation skills.
- Ability to work collaboratively in a team-oriented environment.
- Bilingual capacity (English/Spanish or Haitian Creole a plus).
- Experience working with DCF or supporting families in crisis.
- Culturally responsive approach and deep understanding of family systems and trauma-informed care.
