Role Description

The Children's Museum of the East End (CMEE) is seeking a creative, organized, and enthusiastic Lead Educator to design and teach engaging Summer Art, Cooking, and Sensory Play classes for children ages 2–4. This role focuses on creating a nurturing, hands-on learning environment where young children can explore, create, and develop foundational skills through play-based experiences.

 

The Lead Educator will plan and implement developmentally appropriate lessons, manage classroom routines, and lead assistants and counselors to ensure each class runs smoothly and safely. The ideal candidate is energetic, patient, and passionate about early childhood education and experiential learning.


Responsibilities

  • Plan and lead weekly Summer Art, Cooking, and Sensory Play classes for children ages 2–4.
  • Design developmentally appropriate, hands-on activities that support creativity, fine motor skills, and early learning.
  • Create lesson plans that are engaging, organized, and aligned with early childhood best practices.
  • Adapt activities to meet varying developmental levels, needs, and attention spans.
  • Ensure classes are fun, safe, and inclusive for all children.
  • Lead daily class routines including arrival, transitions, activity time, and clean-up.
  • Maintain a positive, calm, and nurturing environment.
  • Prepare, organize, and maintain all supplies and materials for art, cooking, and sensory classes.
  • Set up and break down classroom spaces daily.
  • Keep materials clean, sanitized, and well organized.
  • Collaborate with leadership on supply lists and program needs.


Qualifications

  • Patience, creativity, and enthusiasm for working with children and families
  • Availability to work part time on-site in Bridgehampton, NY
  • Previous experience in a museum or educational setting is a plus


Position Details 

  • Part-time: 25 hours per week 
  • Compensation: $25 per hour 
  • Start Date: Mid-June
