Overview
Manages, recruits and onboards the sterile processing team leaders and technicians in their technical duties in decontamination, high-level disinfection (HLD), sterilization, and reprocessing of instrumentation used in patient care throughout the organization. Monitors and evaluates the quality of processes ensuring their alignment with current industry and regulatory standards, using evidenced based practice, manufacturer instructions for use (IFU), and hospital-specific procedures and guidelines. Monitors and evaluates staff productivity, errors, and contribution to positive team culture. Utilizes the electronic instrument tracking system to ensure department output is in line with organizational strategic goals, reviewing metrics with all staff. Supervises and collaborates with the department leadership and education coordinator to promote quality onboarding of new team members, and ongoing educational opportunities. Establishes and maintains professional multidisciplinary relationships with department customers throughout the enterprise.

- Provides leadership for sterile processing staff promoting successful accomplishment of division and organizational goals.
- Responsible for department business operations, quality outcomes, and regulatory compliance.
- Assists in the application of new knowledge and innovation to advance improvements at the department and organizational level.
- Attends education programs, department meetings, and assigned committees.
- Assists Perioperative Leadership in fiscal management of the sterile processing department.
Qualifications
- Master's Degree Business or Healthcare and 1-2 years experience Previous management experience in Sterile Processing, healthcare, or related roles. or
- Bachelor's Degree Business or Healthcare and 3-5 years experience Previous management experience in Sterile Processing, healthcare, or related roles. or
- HS diploma or equivalent and 5-7 years experience Previous management experience in Sterile Processing, healthcare, or related roles.
- Certified Instrument Specialist
- Certified Healthcare Leader
- Employees must obtain Certified Healthcare Leader or equivalent within 365 days
- Certified Central Service Technician (CRCST) Required Upon Hire
- Certified Instrument Specialist (CIS) Required Upon Hire
- Certified Healthcare Leader (CHL) Required 1 Year

Starting Pay
Our pay ranges are market competitive. The pay range for this job begins at $38.47/hr, but your offer will be determined based on your education and experience.
Remote Work/Work from Home
This position is not eligible to work remotely, which means that the person hired will be required to work onsite at one of our Children’s Mercy locations and may not work from home.
