Overview

The Manager of Philanthropic Communications is a key member of the Philanthropy team and is responsible for writing, editing and developing concepts for stewarding Children's Mercy generous donors. The writer executes targeted communications within strategies for donors, volunteers and prospects. The Manager of Philanthropic Communications composes stewardship and solicitation copy for email, print, web and other platforms that engage Children's Mercy donors and that reflect and support Children's Mercy's mission to provide the highest quality medical care to all children in our region.

Responsibilities

  • The Manager of Philanthropic Communications acts as a communications content developer supporting the Department of Philanthropy. Most of the work is self-directed based on an accurate needs assessment and priorities jointly established with the Department of Philanthropy and the annual stewardship plan established by the Donor Relations team in conjunction with members of annual fund, donor relations and fund-raising teams.
  • The Manager of Philanthropic Communications is responsible for providing communication support, including writing, copy editing or promotion for various fundraising strategies, audiences and events as needed, including email journeys, annual giving, cause marketing and more.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's Degree and 3-5 years' experience creating compelling content in a busy, fast-paced, philanthropic or non-profit environment. Superior editorial skills and a sound knowledge of writing for various channels, including print, digital and video.
  • Hospital, non-profit, experience highly desired. 

 

Starting Pay

Our pay ranges are market competitive. The pay range for this job begins at $29.26/hr, but your salaried offer will be determined based on your education and experience.

 

Remote Work/Work from Home

This is an intermittent remote position, which means that the person hired will work with his or her manager to determine a schedule that includes both at home and on-site hours at a Children’s Mercy location. The incumbent must live in the Kansas City metro area.
