What are the responsibilities and job description for the RN/LPN Back Office and Phone Triage position at Children's Medical Center Denver,Colorado?
Busy pediatric practice in Denver is seeking an experienced RN or LPN to provide patient care and Telephone Triage Nurse with previous pediatric experience. Primary responsibilities include assessing a parent’s health concerns over the phone and guiding the parents to the appropriate level of care including scheduling an appointment to be seen in the physician’s office.
Responsibilities include the following core duties; although other duties may be assigned.
- Address caller’s health questions
- Determine severity of child’s condition and take appropriate action
- Assess need to schedule same-day appointments for sick children
- Make follow-up calls to guide parents as to physician direction
- Order prescriptions
- Follow triage protocols
- Route clinical messages to physicians using Epic Electronic Health Record system
- Complete health forms
Back Office Duties Include:
Direct Patient Care
- Vital Signs
- Rooming Patient
- Immunizations
- Minor Procedures and tests (i.e. strep, mono, catheterization)
- Entering all information into EMR
Skills needed to be successful:
Problem solving, excellent communication skills, critical thinking skills, the ability to handle stressful situations, the capacity to function independently, have varied clinical experience and the ability to document meticulously. Dependability, Accountability, Professionalism, Computer Skills and Teamwork.
Qualifications:
- Minimum of 2 years experience
- Pediatric experience preferred
- Epic (EHR) experience preferred
- RN or LPN License Required
- Knowledge of Dr. Bart Schmitt’s pediatric protocols a plus
- Bilingual a plus
- Outstanding references required
- Must be able to work 8:00 a.m. – 6:00 p.m. and rotating ½ day on Saturdays
PT/FT hours available. Approximately 3 - 5 days/week including a rotating ½ day on Saturdays.
