Duties & Responsibilities
- Provides interpretation services for patients, families, providers, and staff in a variety of clinical and non-clinical settings, ensuring accurate and culturally responsive communication.
- Translates medical and non-medical documents, including discharge instructions, patient education materials, and departmental communications, in accordance with established standards.
- Serves as a resource to less experienced interpreters, providing structured mentoring, coaching, and modeling of best practices in interpretation and translation.
- Contributes to onboarding and evaluation of new interpreters by conducting skill assessments, sharing observations with leadership, and recommending development plans.
- Partners with department leadership to review and enhance training curricula, interpretation workflows, and quality improvement initiatives related to language access services.
- Participates in departmental initiatives, workgroups, and strategic projects to improve interpreter services and support organizational goals.
- Maintains proficiency in medical terminology across specialties and ensures team adherence to terminology standards.
- Uses the electronic medical record (EMR) to document interpretation activity, track data, and support compliance; trains junior staff in appropriate EMR use related to interpretation services.

- and graduation from an accredited Medical Assistant program
- Experience
- Minimum Experience Required:Three (3) years of translation and/or interpretation experience with spoken and written fluency in Spanish, English, or another foreign language
