Job Overview
The Medical Assistant Apprentice plays a vital role in supporting healthcare delivery by assisting physicians, nurses, and other medical professionals in clinical and administrative tasks. This apprenticeship offers hands-on experience in a healthcare setting while the apprentice completes formal education through an accredited Medical Assistant Certification program. Apprentices will gain exposure to patient care, medical procedures, and office operations, preparing them for a successful career as a Certified Medical Assistant.

Experience
Certification(s): American Heart Association Basic Life Support (BLS) for Healthcare Providers at time of hire.
Preferred Qualification: Current enrollment at Front Range Community College (FRCC) or intent to enroll in a future term.
Salary Information
Pay is dependent on applicant's relevant experience. Hourly Range: $15.93 to $23.90. Pay is dependent on applicant's relevant experience. Hourly Range: $15.93 to $23.90. For this role, the Apprentice will start at $17/hour and will receive progressive wage increases based on successful completion of training phases and demonstrated competency. Advancement through phases is contingent upon meeting performance benchmarks, completing required on-the-job learning and related instruction, and maintaining good standing in the program.

- Job Details: 24-32/week -- Hours will fluctuate based on timeline of program completion
- Shift: M-F 8:00am -4:30pm with varying off day

- Patient Intake & Vital Signs - assist with patient check-in, obtain vital signs (blood pressure, temperature, pulse, respiration ), and document medical history.
- Clinical Support - Prepare patients for examinations, assist with procedures, and ensure exam rooms are clean and stocked.
- Electronic Health Records (EHR) - Accurately enter patient data into EHR systems and maintain confidentiality of medical records.
- Specimen Collection - Collect and label specimens (e.g., blood, urine) for laboratory testing following proper protocols.
- Medication Administration - Administer medications as directed by licensed providers under supervision and document appropriately.
- Patient Communication - Provide clear instructions to patients regarding medications, procedures, and follow-up care.
- Appointment Scheduling - Schedule patient appointments, follow-ups, and referrals using scheduling software.
- Inventory Management - Monitor and replenish medical supplies and equipment in exam rooms and storage areas.
- Infection Control - Follow infection control procedures including sterilization, hand hygiene, and use of PPE.
- Billing & Coding Support - Assist with basic medical billing and coding tasks under supervision.
- Team Collaboration - Work collaboratively with clinical staff to ensure efficient patient flow and quality care.
- Professional Development - Participate in training sessions, evaluations, and mentorship activities as part of the apprenticeship program.
