The Instrument/Sterile Processing Technician Certified is an essential role in patient safety and infection control by ensuring surgical instruments, endoscopes and patient care equipment is decontaminated, reprocessed, and maintained. The Certified Technician operates several types of surgical instrument sterilizers and decontamination equipment.

We prepare surgical instruments and devices. That means we clean, inspect, test, sterilize, store and deliver devices needed for surgery in a healthcare facility. Because of the work we do, surgeons can operate safely on patients in our communities.
We anticipate the needs of our customers. Departments throughout the healthcare facility from the Operating Room to outpatient clinics, depend on the surgical instruments and devices we prepare. These departments rely on our precision, our attention to detail, and our layered skills and knowledge related to surgical instrumentation.
How We Partner & Learn
We collaborate with our vendor partners and the medical teams throughout our facilities to ensure instruments are available when they are needed. The patient always comes first and they deserve the care and attention we give to the safety of the instruments used on them.

Job Status: full time, 40 hours per week, eligible for benefits
Shift: Evenings Monday through Friday (3pm-11:30pm), rotating weekends adn holidays.
Duties & Responsibilities
Education: High School or GED
Experience: 1-year related experience
Certification(s): Certified Registered Central Service Technician (CRCST) or Certified Sterile Processing and Distribution Technician (CSPDT)
Salary Information
Pay is dependent on applicant's relevant experience.
Hourly Range: $20.33 to $30.50

Duties & Responsibilities
- Inspects and assembles surgical instruments, equipment, trays and packs.
- Fills surgery case carts from predetermined listings; may deliver case carts to surgical floor.
- Identifies and reports supply, equipment, and procedure problems.
- Assists in the orientation and continuing education of lower-level Sterile Processing Technicians, fostering a culture of collaboration and effective communication within the department.
- Maintains established departmental standards by adhering to policies and procedures, contributing to quality assurance initiatives.
- Render used items clean and decontaminated manually or mechanically by following established policies and procedures in the decontamination area for instruments, supplies, carts and equipment.
- Participates in achieving departmental sterilization objectives by following policies and procedures related to assembly, inspection, sterilization, storage, and proper handling of instrument trays, supplies, and equipment.
- Develops and maintains expert knowledge of surgical service, sterile process, or instrument classification.
- Collaborates with other Sterile Processing Departments within the organization to address staffing challenges.
