Job Description
The Volunteer Coordinator is responsible for the programmatic and administrative operations of Volunteer Services at Children’s Healthcare of Atlanta. The role supports 300 volunteers annually to provide services to patients, families, and staff
Experience
- Experience in building and maintaining customer relations (e.g., community partners, volunteers, patients, families, visitors, and system staff)
- Experience managing volunteers, including recruiting and program management
- Bachelor's degree
- No professional certifications required
- Demonstrated customer service skills
- Strong collaboration, organization, and communication skills
- Ability to effectively manage competing priorities
- Proficient in Microsoft Office; ability to learn new systems
- Supports the day-to-day operations of the volunteer program.
- Recruits, screens, onboards, and places new volunteers (VolunTEENs, College, Adults, Satellites) in accordance with policies and procedures.
- Manages specialty in-patient volunteer groups, including promotion, recruitment, and facilitation.
- Meets with system representatives regarding volunteer positions, candidates, and opportunities for improvement.
- Assists with building and managing external relationships to fill positions (e.g., networking, advertising, associations, agencies, colleges).
- Ensures volunteers receive timely contact, feedback, and customer support.
- Maintains accurate volunteer records, schedules, and documentation through the volunteer management system and files.
- Supports department reporting by tracking volunteer activity, impact, and other program metrics.
- Provides logistical and programmatic support for volunteer special events, including ongoing recognition and appreciation activities.
- Participates in special projects and program improvements in alignment with department goals.
- Supports the Intern with volunteer programming assignments.
