Summary

This role serves as a key subject matter expert and strategic resource for designing, implementing, and sustaining educational and competency-based initiatives within the pharmacy department. This role supports all pharmacy teams across the health system, fostering a culture of continuous learning and professional growth. This position is instrumental in enhancing staff proficiency in medication use processes, ensuring regulatory compliance, promoting clinical excellence, and driving standardization across practice settings.

Responsibilities

  • Provide onboarding training and professional development in collaboration with pharmacy leadership and the Leadership and Learning Institute (LLI) team, and other organizational educators
  • Supports integrating evidence-based literature into practice by assessing learning needs and applying learning principles to promote active learner participation
  • Mentors, develops, and evaluates trainers to enhance learning experiences for all new hires
  • Develop, coordinate, and deliver structured onboarding programs for new pharmacists, technicians, and interns
  • Design and implement continuing, ongoing education, competency assessments, and staff development initiatives
  • Provide targeted education related to best practices, formulary updates, and operational workflows
  • Inform shared decision making and collaborates with multi-disciplinary stakeholders and pharmacy leadership to ensure educational programs support organizational goals and strategic plan(s)
  • Participate in policy and protocol development with a focus on staff training and implementation
  • Support pharmacy continuing education programs and serves as administrator for ACPE
  • Evaluate the effectiveness of educational programs through audits, surveys, and feedback
  • Serve as a subject matter expert in pharmacy education and competency development
  • Promote a culture of continuous learning and professional growth

Work Experience

  • At least 3 years at least 3 years Job-related experience in health-systems pharmacy required
  • At least 1 year at least 1 year of experience in leading educational activities preferred

Education

  • Graduate or professional work or advanced degree; or equivalent experience Graduate or professional work and advanced degree; or equivalent experience Doctorate of Pharmacy and completion of a pediatric clinical pharmacy residency or job-related experience preferred
  • Four-year Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience Four-year Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience Degree (B.S. or Pharm.D) from an accredited school of pharmacy required

Licenses And Certification

  • Current Texas Pharmacist License Upon Hire required
  • Texas State Board of Pharmacy Preceptor certification 90 Days required
  • 20-hour ACPE accredited IV training course 90 Days required
  • BLS/ACLS/PALS instructor certification preferred
  • BLS/ACLS/PALS certification 90 Days required
  • Teaching certificate through residency program or equivalent preferred
