Summary

Leads the strategy and business development function which proactively identifies and drives projects specific to the development of enterprise-wide strategic plan, partnership strategy, volume and services plans, competitive and market intelligence leadership, and other areas within the organization, from analysis through implementation. Responsible for leading the sourcing, evaluation, and implementation of strategic partnerships and initiatives that further the organization's core mission and business interests. Responsible for managing a core team of strategy and business development Directors, Managers, Coordinators, and/or Analysts, assigning them to projects, managing their performance, and tracking their professional development. Leads and/or participates in special projects at the direction of the Chief Executive Officer and/or the Chief Strategy Officer. Maintains an understanding of the overall performance and competitive position of Children's Health.

Responsibilities

  • Leads and coordinates the establishment and maintenance of CHST's enterprise-wide strategic plan in cooperation with the Chief Strategy Officer, including providing strategic context for CHST divisional or service line strategic plan development.
  • Directs project teams to evaluate CHST's enterprise-wide strategic opportunities and partnerships, develops conceptual strategic responses (initiatives), and prepares recommendations for executive leadership for review and approval.
  • Develops the execution framework for implementation of CHST's enterprise-wide strategic plan including the development and tracking of performance measures; provides regular status reports to CHST's executive leadership team.
  • Effectively partners with clinical, physician, and executive leadership to communicate the needs for business development
  • plans and enhance service offerings.
  • Initiates all new business development for new and expanded initiatives, not only through providing market research, predictive models, value added analytics and data analysis, but also by being a proactive partner – having a stake in the ultimate return on investment and operational excellence of each entity or service
  • Leads market analysis to develop and implement national, regional, and local growth opportunities, all aligned with the CHST’s strategic plan.
  • Accountable for the performance and results of multiple teams performing diverse activities such as strategic plan development and execution, volume forecasting, industry reporting, business development, etc.
  • Provides input to the development and maintenance of clinical program strategic plans in cooperation with the Chief Strategy Officer, the Vice President of Delivery Network Integration and Management Services, and UTSW leadership.
  • Proactively monitors and evaluates CHST's competitive position and performance across the CHST enterprise and identifies opportunities to improve CHST's competitive position.
  • Develops the Strategy, Planning and Business Development teams' abilities to provide analytics, research, and consulting services to CHST leadership including the ability communicate findings/proposals in the context of CHST's enterprise-wide strategic priorities.
  • Effectively partners with clinical, physician, and executive leadership to communicate the needs for business development plans and enhance service offerings.
  • Initiates all new business development for new and expanded initiatives, not only through providing market research, predictive models, value added analytics and data analysis, but also by being a proactive partner – having a stake in the ultimate return on investment and operational excellence of each entity or service.
  • Provides input and performs necessary analyses for items addressed by the appropriate long-range planning committee(s) of the CHST enterprise.
  • Interfaces and works across the matrix of the organization constructively with all CHST enterprise leadership and teams.
  • Completes other projects as requested by the Chief Executive Officer or the Chief Strategy Officer.

Work Experience

How You’ll Be Successful:

  • At least 10 years broad management or consulting experience as a strategy, operations or financial manager across a variety of functions, health care services, and/or care settings, with proven record of success in a health care provider organization. Req
  • Excellence in market/competitive analysis, financial analysis, issue identification, implications development and recommendation/action preparation. Req
  • Experience in community, academic health systems or pediatric health systems, where demonstrated relationships with physicians and the community are paramount. Req

EDUCATION

  • Four-year Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience Req
  • Graduate or professional work or advanced degree; or equivalent experience Req

  • Makes decisions guided by resource availability and functional objectives that significantly affect the results of the function
  • Analyzes key trends and input from diverse and sometimes disparate sources to make meaningful changes that affect long-term results
  • Approves budget within areas of responsibility and holds subordinate managers accountable for managing to achieve expected financial results
  • Leads cross-functional teams to develop and implement solutions that have a broad impact on the organization's long-term success
