Responsibilities
- Respond calmly and urgently to incidents of workplace violence, fire, medical emergencies, bomb threats, flooding, water discharge, elevator emergencies, hazardous materials, inclement weather, and many other disastrous events. Assist with all security needs/concerns from patients, families, staff, and visitors.
- Conduct thorough weapons screening processes to prevent the entry of weapons into the facility.
- Provide a high level of de-escalation during crisis management for patients, families, staff, and visitors. Serve as a trained SSPV responder to all high-risk patient needs, employing advanced tactics beyond bedside staffing, training, and competencies.
- Conduct comprehensive patrols of assigned facility/property, both internally and externally, to ensure adherence to system & hospital policies, accreditation, and other regulatory requirements. Remains vigilant for signs of crime, disorder, hazard, and unusual/suspicious activity.
- Provide detailed written reports of all security-related incidents occurring during the assigned shift. Ensure accuracy for use in legal proceedings, personnel issues, and crime identification.
- At least 1 year related experience (i.e. Customer service, healthcare, hospitality, security, law enforcement or military.) required
- At least 2 years Security, law enforcement, military, healthcare, or education preferred
- High school diploma or equivalent required
- Two-year Associate's degree or equivalent experience Criminal Justice, Law Enforcement, Security or closely related field preferred
- Valid Texas Department of Public Safety Driver's License Upon Hire required
- Basic Life Support for Healthcare Providers as required by CP 1.20 Life Support Course in 60 Days, required
- Texas Department of Public Safety – Texas Private Security Bureau Registration - Non Commissioned Security Officer Level 2 or Commissioned Security Officer Level 3 certification 180 Days required
- Basic Level Certification (CHSO) obtained through International Association for Healthcare Security and Safety organization. 180 Days required
