Title: Housekeeper
Hours: Part-Time
Job Summary: The Housekeeper performs housekeeping and cleaning activities within well established guides and assigned areas.
- Principal Duties and Responsibilities Performed:
Responsibility: Maintains clean and sanitary conditions in assigned areas as directed according to established standards observing proper cleaning and disinfecting techniques.
Provides for: Economical use of supplies, care and use of equipment. Cooperating with other employees to promote efficiency and completion of all areas of the job.
Tasks:
- Receives assignment from Supervisor.
- Follows cleaning schedule (daily, weekly, monthly, etc.) as outlined for Housekeeping Department.
- Cleans assigned areas, furnishings, fixtures according to established housekeeping procedures.
- Cleans movable, and stationary, furnishings and fixtures.
- Dusts, spot cleans or washes, disinfects when necessary.
- Polishes where required.
- Cleans ledges, shelves, vents etc.
- Empties and cleans outside ash trays.
- Empties and cleans and relines wastebaskets.
- Straightens or rearranges furniture as directed.
- Inspects furnishings for wear and defects and reports to Supervisor.
- Cleans carpeting and rugs.
- Vacuums, shampoos carpeting and rugs. Have small rugs laundered.
- Cleans bathrooms (patient, private and public).
- Cleans and disinfects all fixtures, floors, walls, and patient equipment as directed.
- Washes windows and mirrors.
- Replenishes bathroom supplies.
- Cleans walls, windows, doors and ceilings.
- Spot cleans between washings, washes, disinfects when necessary.
- Walls and ceilings and ceiling fixtures are cleaned as scheduled.
- Cleans entrances, exits.
- Cleans as directed above for floors and for walls.
- Cleans all horizontal surfaces as required, removing dust, dirt or greasy film using disinfectants where necessary, such as in patient care areas.
- Performs terminal cleaning duties, according to established procedure in patient’s rooms when patient has been discharged or transferred, and prepares room for new occupant.
- Performs cleaning duties in isolation units when patient is transferred according to established procedure.
- Cleans OR and all associated areas per policy.
- Removes for cleaning, and rehangs curtains, drapes, dividers.
- Changes light bulbs. Removes waste and disposes of waste and trash. Waters flowers.
- Reports observations concerning structural and equipment wear, defects or malfunctions to Supervisor.
- Reports supply and equipment needs to Supervisor for replacement and/or replenishing.
- Maintains equipment used in performing duties.
- Performs other duties as directed by designated Supervisor.
- Is tactful; courteous and at all times and cooperates with other hospital staff.

Job Related Experience:
- 1 year acute hospital or S.N.F. experience preferred.
- Must read, write and understand English.
- Must have demonstrated ability to follow directions.
Physical Requirements:
- Personal cleanliness.
- Physically healthy and strong enough to perform duties (able to lift 30 lbs).
Salary : $18 - $20
