About the role!


  • The Child and Adolescent Therapist is responsible for providing individual, family, group, and/or collateral therapy for children, teens, and young adults. They are also responsible for completing all documentation, including progress notes, in a timely manner in accordance with CHC’s documentation timelines, as well as conducting comprehensive clinical interviews with parents and clients. This position currently reports to the Clinical Program Manager.


As a Child and Adolescent Therapist, you will:


  • Provide individual, family, group, and/or collateral therapy for children, teens, and young adults.
  • Conduct comprehensive clinical interviews with parents and clients. Develop a case formulation, and develop tailored, evidence-based treatment plans.
  • Coordinate clinical care with other disciplines including SLP, OT, education, psychology, and psychiatry.
  • Conduct in-service training and seminars at CHC or within the community, including parent or teacher education workshops, support groups, or podcast episodes.
  • Facilitate parent/teacher workshops, facilitate support groups, and/or contribute content for podcasts.
  • Attend clinical staff and team meetings as assigned, including weekly staff meeting and a regularly scheduled consultation group.
  • Complete all documentation, including progress notes, in a timely manner in accordance with CHC’s documentation timelines.
  • Adhere to all mental health, legal, and ethical mandates and guidelines in the execution of duties, including timely completion of charting, billing, report preparation, and ethical/confidentiality issues as outlined by the American Association of Marriage and Family Therapy or National Association of Social Workers.
  • Participate in IEP conferences and other school meetings to assist school personnel in understanding client issues and the rationale for the implementation of recommendations when clinically valid.
  • Meet productivity expectations as assigned by the Division Director. Perform at full productivity at the completion of the 3rd month of hire.
  • Perform other related duties as required and assigned.


What we’re looking for:

  • Knowledge and understanding of CHC's four areas of expertise: ADHD, LD, anxiety and depression, and Autism Spectrum disorders.
  • Knowledge and skills in evidence-based child and adolescent individual and family therapies, case formulations, and treatment planning.
  • Experience utilizing EHR software programs.
  • Ability to work in a team-oriented environment.
  • Excellent time management and organizational skills.
  • Knowledge and use of computers and an Electronic Health Record (EHR) is essential.
  • Experience working with diverse populations and commitment to CHC’s DEIB initiatives


About your background (education/experience):

  • Full licensure must be obtained by way of LPCC, LMFT, or LCSW from an accredited graduate school is required. This is not an associate level position.
  • At least 3 years post-degree experience in either/both a pediatric clinic and/or school-based setting is preferred.
  • Valid California license to practice in a mental health field required.
  • Maintenance of valid California license with the Board of Behavioral Sciences with a copy provided to Division Director.
  • Adherence to all professional, ethical, legal, and confidentiality issues outlined by the California Board of Behavioral Sciences, American Association of Marriage and Family Therapy or National Association of Social Workers, and State and Federal laws (e.g., HIPAA).
  • Passion and enthusiasm for working with children and teens.


Working Conditions


Physical Requirements:

  • Able to stand and sit for extended periods of time.
  • Able to lift and/or move up to 20 lbs.

Special Job Requirements:

  • Afternoon and evening hours in Palo Alto to accommodate clients’ school schedules.



Compensation listed is representative of a 1.0 FTE (40 hour work week). The actual compensation for this role may be adjusted for a 0.50-0.80 FTE (20-32 hour/week schedule)


Range: $100,000-$125,000 per year, plus additional bonuses tied to personal billing activity.

Pay Type: salary


  • The starting base salary for this position is as shown above. The actual base salary is dependent upon a variety of job-related factors such as professional background, training, work experience, location, business needs, and market demand. This pay range is subject to change and may be modified in the future.
