Children’s Healing Art Project (CHAP) is a nonprofit organization dedicated to bringing the healing power of art to children and families facing medical and mental health challenges. CHAP’s team works with families in the hospitals and other community neighboring organizations. Our partners include major hospitals like OHSU Doernbecher Children's Hospital and Shriner's Hospital for Children. Additionally, CHAP offers the Art Club program for children with medical challenges and "CHAP in a Box" deliveries for families outside the Portland area. CHAP relies on a governing board and a dedicated team of volunteers who provide essential support.
Role Description
This part-time role of Studio Coordinator involves coordinating daily activities at the Children’s Healing Art Project studio. Job responsibilities include managing studio schedules, organizing art supplies, maintaining a clean and welcoming studio environment, and liaising with teaching artists and volunteers. The role also involves planning art sessions, assisting with events, and fostering relationships with participants and their families. This role takes place in our art studio and with in the metro area on occasion.
- Art Club: Plan, execute, and manage Art Club program. This position includes creating ideas for weekly (minimum) experiences. Communication with parents, procurement of materials for projects and or experiences.
- Art Club On-The-Go: Coordination and management and staffing (with Volunteers) of any Art Club On-The-Go programs. Includes project ideation, billing (if necessary), and management of actual event.
- Summer and Winter workshops
- Open Studio: Plan, execute once a month.
- CIAB: Execution of CIAB- Box coordination and distribution. Management of the distribution list.
- (Working to resurrect) Art Parties- Be in charge of coordinating with parents, planning the event, ensuring adequate volunteer support and billing parents. This may expand total hours- depending on how much the studio coordinator would like to peruse this.
Qualifications
- Passion for the arts and a commitment to supporting children’s well-being through creative expression
- Have experience working with kids
- Previous experience in a nonprofit or educational setting is beneficial (not required)
- Willingness to work on weekends (flexibility in work schedule)
- Trauma informed- we work with kid who have special needs
- Strong Communication Skills
- Ability to work well within a team and with diverse groups
- Basic understanding of Marketing and Budgeting
- Familiarity with or interest in arts-based activities
- Excellent organizational and multitasking abilities
Position is Part time- 20 hours a week
Salary: $18 an hour
**Position would officially start January 22nd
