Southern Illinois Chidlren's Dyslexia Center is a non-profit charity of the Scottish Rite. We provide free tutoring to students who struggle to read and we offer Dyslexia Practitioner 1 and 2 certification training free of charge.
Role Description
This is a 12 month position for a Certified Dyslexia Practitioner 1 - Trainee at the Children's Dyslexia Center - Southern Illinois, located in Collinsville, IL. The Dyslexia Practitioner-1 Trainee will receive structured training to support children with dyslexia using evidence-based methods. This Training involves five full-day trainings throughout the summer of 2026 and five Saturday trainings throughout the 26-27 school year. You will work closely with a supervisor as you tutor two students during your onsite practicum. Come prepared to change the trajectory of a child's life.
Qualifications
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills, with a demonstrated ability to engage effectively with children.
- Attention to detail and organizational skills for lesson planning and progress tracking.
- Inclination toward learning evidence-based dyslexia intervention techniques.
- Bachelor's degree - Education, Psychology, Speech-Language Pathology, or a related field preferred.
- Patience, compassion, and enthusiasm for making a difference in the lives of children with learning difficulties.
- Ability to work collaboratively with a team and openness to feedback during the training process.
- Experience working with children or in educational settings is a plus.
