Child Care Assistant TeacherPosition Overview
Join our early childhood education team as a Child Care Assistant Teacher. In this hands-on role, you will support lead teachers in creating a safe, nurturing, and engaging environment where young children can learn, grow, and thrive.
This paid position is ideal for a dependable and enthusiastic caregiver who enjoys working with children and wants to gain valuable experience in early childhood education.
Responsibilities
- Assist lead teachers with age-appropriate lessons and activities that support children’s social, emotional, physical, and cognitive development.
- Actively supervise children during classroom activities, meals, naps, outdoor play, and transitions.
- Maintain a clean, organized, safe, and welcoming classroom environment.
- Support positive classroom and behavior-management practices.
- Assist with diapering, toileting, feeding, handwashing, and other daily care routines.
- Observe children for changes in behavior, development, or health and communicate concerns to the lead teacher or administration.
- Communicate professionally with parents and guardians regarding children’s daily experiences, needs, and progress.
- Follow all center policies, licensing requirements, health and safety procedures, and mandated-reporting laws.
- Support children with disabilities or additional needs by adapting activities and providing individualized assistance when necessary.
- Work cooperatively with teachers, administrators, and other staff members.
Qualifications
- Previous experience working with children in a daycare, preschool, school, babysitting, nannying, summer camp, or similar setting is preferred.
- Basic knowledge of child development and early childhood education practices.
- Current first-aid and CPR certification, or willingness to become certified upon hire.
- Experience working with children with disabilities or special needs is highly desirable.
- Strong supervision, classroom-management, and behavior-management skills.
- Effective verbal and written communication skills.
- Ability to remain patient, attentive, and professional in a fast-paced environment.
- Dependable attendance and the ability to work assigned shifts consistently.
- Genuine enthusiasm for supporting the growth, safety, and well-being of young children.
