Position Summary:
Exhibit Facilitators (PALs) nurture, encourage, and inspire children to learn through play. They maintain safe, clean, and engaging gallery spaces for children and families, while supporting the Children's Discovery Center’s mission and philosophy. PALs work collaboratively with the team to create welcoming environments and deliver memorable experiences for every visitor.
Qualifications:
- Ability to connect with people of all ages, abilities, and backgrounds.
- Strong interpersonal skills and confidence in group interactions.
- Reliable, punctual, and committed to teamwork.
- Previous experience serving families or working in a fast-paced, public environment preferred.
- Strong work ethic, time management, and attention to detail.
- Ability to stand for up to 8 hours and lift up to 25 pounds.
- Dedication to life-long learning and the mission of the Discovery Center.
- Availability to work weekends and holidays as part of a flexible schedule.
Primary Responsibilities:
Serve Our Guests
- Practice GEM:
- Greet: Welcome each visitor warmly, acknowledging them as they enter and leave the gallery.
- Engage: Play alongside children and families, modeling positive behavior and encouraging meaningful interactions.
- Move: Be visible, approachable, and attentive throughout the galleries to ensure all visitors feel supported.
- Anticipate and respond to visitor needs and questions with accurate, friendly, and helpful information.
- Create an inclusive environment where every child feels empowered, welcomed, and valued.
Set the Stage for Creative Play
- Ensure galleries are safe, clean, and inviting by maintaining the highest standards of presentation and care.
- Encourage families to play and learn together.
- Perform routine housekeeping in galleries, including dusting, wiping surfaces, disinfecting high-touch areas, and monitoring exhibit materials.
- Report and remove unsafe or broken items promptly.
- Respond calmly and effectively to incidents or accidents, and notify a manager as needed.
