Responsibilities
- Prepare treatment rooms by sterilizing instruments, setting up dental tools, and ensuring all equipment is functioning properly using infection control and aseptic techniques.
- Assist dentists during a variety of procedures including general dentistry, pediatric dentistry, prosthodontics, endodontics, and other specialties by handing instruments and managing patient comfort.
- Take and develop dental radiographs (X-ray images) while adhering to HIPAA regulations for patient privacy and safety standards.
- Manage patient records efficiently using EMR (Electronic Medical Records) systems such as Dentrix, Eaglesoft, or Epic to document treatment details accurately.
- Conduct vital signs assessments and medical imaging as needed to support comprehensive patient evaluations.
- Support front desk operations by acting as a dental receptionist—scheduling appointments, updating medical documentation, and assisting with insurance or medical coding processes.
- Educate patients on oral health practices, post-treatment care instructions, and answer questions related to procedures or dental terminology.
Qualifications
- Prior experience in a dental clinic setting or familiarity with dental assisting duties is preferred but not required; training will be provided for motivated candidates.
- Knowledge of dental terminology, anatomy, infection control protocols, and medical terminology is highly desirable.
- Proficiency with EMR systems such as Dentrix, Eaglesoft, or Epic is a plus.
- Ability to operate dental equipment including 3D scanners and X-ray machines safely and effectively.
- Strong understanding of aseptic techniques and infection prevention standards within a clinical environment.
- Excellent communication skills to interact professionally with patients of all ages, especially pediatrics.
- Ability to work collaboratively in four-handed dentistry setups alongside dentists and hygienists.
