Children’s Art Classes - East Rockaway

Children’s Art Classes East Rockaway is seeking a warm, confident, and skilled Part-Time Art Instructor to join our growing studio. We are a curriculum-based art school focused on helping children learn real artistic skills, build confidence, and genuinely love coming to class each week.

This role is ideal for an instructor who enjoys working with children, values structure, and knows how to balance creativity with clear expectations.

Class Structure & Teaching Environment

Our classes are small, structured, and intentionally designed to be manageable:

• Ages 3–4: 45 minutes, up to 6 students
• Ages 5–6: 1 hour, up to 10 students
• Ages 7–8: 1 hour 15 minutes, up to 12 students
• Ages 9 : 1 hour 15 minutes, up to 12 students

Classes are taught around a large table, and instructors are expected to move throughout the room, offering individual guidance and instruction rather than lecturing.

We proudly serve a diverse group of students, including some children with special needs and children on the autism spectrum. Instructors should be patient, calm, and able to lead the room with warmth and clarity.

Instructors are expected to:

• Review lesson plans and prepare in advance
• Arrive prepared and on time for each class
• Attend a monthly 1-hour virtual teacher training with instructors from other Children’s Art Classes studios nationwide
• Occasionally participate in local community events as needed

Schedule (Current School Year through late June)

We are looking for availability for some of the following time blocks:

Sundays

• 11:00–12:00
• 12:00–1:15
• 1:15–2:30

Tuesdays

• 4:00–5:15
• 5:15–6:15
• 6:15–7:30

Wednesdays

• 4:00–5:15
• 5:15–6:30
• 6:30–7:30

Thursdays

• 4:00–5:00
• 5:00–6:15
• 6:15–7:30

Candidates do not need to be available for all time slots.

Additional Opportunities

• Teaching school-holiday workshops during the year
• Expanded teaching hours as enrollment grows
• Summer workshops (July & August) lasting 2–3 hours, open to both enrolled and non-enrolled students

About Our Studio

Children’s Art Classes East Rockaway is proud to be part of the local community. We actively participate in town events and serve families from East Rockaway and nearby areas including Woodmere, Hewlett, Lynbrook, Valley Stream, Oceanside, Island Park, Long Beach, Baldwin, and more.

Our goal is to be known as an art school where children learn, grow, and feel proud of their progress, while loving the experience of being in class.

Qualifications

• Background in art, art education, or a related field (degree preferred, not required)
• Experience teaching children required
• Strong classroom management and communication skills
• A professional, positive, and reliable approach to teaching

• Pay: $42–$55 per hour (based on experience)
• Location: In person in East Rockaway, NY

Pay: $42.00 - $55.00 per hour

Expected hours: 3.0 – 7.0 per week
