What are the responsibilities and job description for the Parent Educator position at Children's Aid Society?
This position provides strengths-based, in-home services to families. The ideal candidate will understand the cultural diversity of the populations served by the agency and have the ability to work with flexible scheduling to meet client needs.
This position requires working directly with the family in discussing, testing, and observing parenting techniques and periodic reviews of needs and progress. Parent Educators coach family members on concerns like communication; child-rearing, structure, and positive discipline; financial management; home organization, cleanliness, and management; medical, dental, and mental health needs. The goal is to assist parents to improve skills and optimize the home environment by enhancing their support system, providing resources, and increasing their ability to problem-solve. Parent educators also attend service provider meetings and court proceedings as needed.
