Job Requirements:
Summary: This position provides guidance for IL youth and support to the ILSS program at CAS.
Minimum Education: High School Diploma/GED required; Associate or Bachelor’s degree desired.
Licensure: Valid Alabama driver license and auto insurance minimum liability 100/300.
Required Skills, Knowledge, and Abilities: The Youth Consultant will be a person with lived experience in the foster care system in Alabama. Excellent oral and written communication, organization, and problem-solving skills; Ability to relate to and work well with others; Excellent time-management skills with the ability to simultaneously manage multiple projects and meet deadlines; Proficiency in Microsoft Office, particularly Word and Excel. Demonstrate cultural proficiency and to learn and work within an agency culture of trauma responsive care.
Certification: Bi-annual TB skin test/medical report.
Other Requirements: Frequent travel statewide. Ability to lift 25 lbs.
Essential Functions of Position:
1. Assist with all ILSS program components by applying lived experience with foster care in Alabama.
2. Provide training to ILSS staff and youth, included but not limited to each of the TLP group homes
3. Serve as support and coaches for current and former ILSS youth.
4. Participate in Permanency and Transition Roundtables.
5. Promote NYTD participation and ETVP and Fostering Hope information.
6. Consult with ILSS staff and DHR ILP staff as needed.
7. Provide guidance to youth on basic life skills development and other topics that are vital to IL youth achieving independence.
8. Assist with the planning and implementation of IL Camps.
9. Participate in all other ILSS activities as needed.
Pay: $38,279.00 per year
