The Parent Mentor offers weekly in-home visits including parenting education, information & referral services, advocacy services, and support services to all family members in the home. The ideal candidate will promote and foster the organization’s values of advocacy, integrity, innovation, people-first, and community.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
Case management
- Utilize the current case management model-from assessment period to closeout
- Utilize curriculum authorized by the CAC to work with families if parenting education is called for by the service plan
- Maintain a caseload of families as program needs dictate
- Conduct intake screenings, assessments, and complete all required paperwork with referred families
- Ensure all data is reported and compiled as directed by granting agency and CAC in a timely manner
- Maintains all case files and documents in adherence to granting agency and CAC requirements
- Provides crisis intervention services as needed
- Facilitates groups/classes, as needed
- Maintains and fosters congenial relationships with other professionals
Other responsibilities
- Immediately reports any suspected child abuse or neglect as required by law
- Submits required paperwork by specified deadline: timesheets, mileage logs, and any other reimbursement requests to Youth Services Program Manager
- Participates in 12 hours of continuing education each year
- Attends community meetings as agreed upon by Youth Services Program Manager and Director of CASA and Prevention
- Assists with statistical compilation and record keeping
- Participates in outreach efforts as needed
- Assists with program development
- Maintains a professional, organized environment in personal office
- Other duties as assigned by Youth Services Program Manager
Required/Desired Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
- Bachelor’s degree in social work or related field required
- Minimum of 2 years’ experience working with families with children
- Must possess excellent people and computer skills, including Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook and the ability to learn other computer programs applicable to the position
- Ability to provide services and work in a non-traditional work setting, i.e. home office, client’s homes, etc.
- Bilingual (English/Spanish) is a plus
- Ability to clearly convey and interpret information to others in a clear manner, oral and written
- Ability to work under time constraints and maintain effective job performance
- Ability to work independently and in a team environment
- Means and ability to travel to service areas as well as conferences and training
- Ability to work evenings, weekends as needed
- High moral and ethical standards
- Must maintain confidentiality
- Must pass all criminal background and reference checks
Job Type: Full-time
