Child’s First Day Camp is seeking a qualified Day Camp Director to lead our licensed summer/day camp program in the afternoons! We are looking for organized, energetic, and dependable leaders who have experience supervising staff and working with school-age children in a child care, camp, recreation, or educational setting.
This position is ideal for experienced child care leaders, teachers, assistant directors, recreation staff, youth program coordinators, or school-age program leaders.
Responsibilities
- Oversee daily operations of the licensed day camp program
- Supervise camp staff and ensure proper child supervision at all times
- Plan and coordinate activities, outdoor play, field trips, and enrichment experiences
- Maintain compliance with Wisconsin DCF licensing regulations
- Support positive behavior guidance and social-emotional development
- Communicate with families regarding schedules, activities, and concerns
- Maintain attendance records, schedules, and required documentation
- Ensure a safe, organized, and engaging environment for children
Minimum Qualifications
Applicants must meet Wisconsin DCF qualifications for Day Camp Directors, including:
- Must be at least 21 years old
- Minimum of 2 years of supervisory, administrative, or leadership experience in:
- licensed child care
- school-age programs
- camps
- youth programs
- education or recreation settings
OR
- Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree in:
- Early Childhood Education
- Elementary Education
- Child Development
- Recreation
- Psychology
- Social Work
- Youth Development
- or a related field
Preferred Qualifications
- Previous camp, school-age, or summer program experience
- Experience supervising staff or leading a classroom/program
- CPR/First Aid certification or willingness to obtain
- Strong leadership, communication, and organization skills
- Ability to manage active groups of children in indoor and outdoor settings
Schedule
Seasonal / Full-Time
Monday–Friday
Hours may vary based on program and field trip schedules.
