What are the responsibilities and job description for the Residential Counselor - PRN (as needed) position at CHILD, Inc.?
CHILD, Inc. has multiple shifts available as a Residential Counselor in both of our Domestic Violence Shelters that provide a safe home for battered women and their children (shelters are located in Wilmington and Bear area).
- Part-Time available in the Wilmington and Bear area (WEEKENDS, OVERNIGHTS)
Locations of shelters are strictly confidential, will receive exact location upon hire.
Essential Job Duties:
- Provides coverage at shelter (which operates on a 24-hour, 7 day/week basis), including but not only admitting and supervising residents and handling crisis telephone calls.
- Supervises residents while they are living at the shelter.
- Provides information, referrals and crisis counseling to hotline callers
- Supervises meal planning and preparations, as required, during each shift.
- Purchases, lifts and carries groceries, supplies, donations, residents’ belongings, etc.
Requirements:
- Some college coursework in criminal justice, social work or human services field plus one year work experience or equivalent education and/or experience
- Working knowledge of the domestic violence and social service fields and the major practices and problems of their agencies
