Job description:
Child Garden Montessori, a private Montessori school in Minneapolis, is seeking a full time experienced Toddler Assistant from 9:00 am to 5:30 pm, Monday through Friday. Child Garden Montessori School serves children ages 6 weeks to 6 years. We are located on the outskirts of downtown Minneapolis, footsteps away from Loring Park and the Minneapolis Sculpture Garden.
This position requires a warm, friendly personality with exceptional organizational and collaborative skills. The Assistant Toddler Teacher is responsible for helping to maintain the Montessori environment, caring for each Toddler to provide for their needs and safety while nurturing their independence and development. All work is performed incorporating Montessori philosophy and methods and within state licensing guidelines.
Key Responsibilities:
Parent relations: maintain positive communication with families and update daily logs.
- Student activities: perform food preparation, changing, and supervise activities and naps. Talk to and interact with the toddlers, helping them to grow in their physical, social and cognitive development.
- Staff relations and development: Communicate with all staff in a positive and friendly way to support the safe and smooth operation of the classroom. Attend all staff meetings and in-service days
- Administration and operations: ensure safety and licensing requirements are met; complete required daily recordkeeping such as eating, toileting and naps, and accident reports.
- Work in partnership with the Director to ensure the organization’s objectives, requirements and standards are achieved
Position Requirements:
- Minimum: High School Diploma
- Two or more years related child care experience with toddlers in a licensed child care environment
- Experience working in a Montessori setting a plus
- Knowledge of licensing standards
- Strong communication, customer service and interpersonal skills, able to interact effectively with parents, staff and students
- Effective organizational, time management and problem-solving skills
- Proficient in using a tablet to update daily logs
- Experience working in a diverse and inclusive environment
- Ability to Commute to Minneapolis, MN 55403
