We fulfill our mission by developing educational programs that benefit the general public, survivors, and faith communities. Our goal is to help people understand how to identify RCM and its risk factors and to recognize its negative impact on children. Our programs are designed to accomplish three key goals
,
The Child-Friendly Faith Project's mission is to educate the public about the harm done to children when child-protection laws include religious exemptions. We are currently building a database of reported cases of child abuse and neglect in religious settings. This database is the first of its kind because it includes incidents across all faith traditions.
We include supporting documentation with each incident we add, and that's where you come in.
We are looking for volunteers who know how to search court and law enforcement websites for filings and reports that we can upload to our database. We will cover the cost when courts charge for document downloads.
The time commitment is up to you. This an ongoing project, as we intend to update the database regularly. You can volunteer as little as one hour a week indefinitely, or you can commit to a timeline with a definite ending date.
If you are interested, please email us at info@childfriendlyfaith.org and tell us about your relevant experience and why our cause is interests you. We have no specific professional requirements, just the know-how and a desire to help.
