SUMMARY OF DUTIES
The Multisystemic Therapy (MST) Therapist provides services for individuals and their families in the home, school, and community that are designed to: (1) ensure safety and stability of the child and family to promote successful functioning in home, school, and community; (2) avert treatment in a residential or inpatient setting; (3) facilitate an earlier return of individuals to the home environment who receive inpatient or residential care; (4) strengthen family functioning; and (5) assist students in achieving optimal benefits from their education.
EDUCATION AND TRAINING REQUIREMENTS
- Masters' Degree from a school accredited by a recognized accrediting agency. Requires knowledge of an advanced type.
- One of the following:
- Hawaii licensed, graduate level mental health professional and minimum of one (1) year supervised training in the provision of child and adolescent mental health services; or
- Advanced level professional degree in related human service field and minimum of two (2) years supervised training in the provision of child and adolescent mental health services; or
- Advanced level professional degree in related human service field and minimum of one (1) year experience in provision of child and adolescent mental health services and currently working under supervision of personnel meeting criteria 1) and 2) or
- Bachelor's degree in human services with (5) years experience with troubled youth and families.
EXPERIENCE
- Over one year, up to and including two years.
SPECIAL KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES REQUIRED
- Ability to work with people of multi-cultural and different levels of education and socioeconomic status.
- Knowledge of community resources.
- Ability to organize large amounts of information.
- Ability to document work in a clear, concise, timely, and goal-oriented manner.
- Ability to work and communicate positively with collaterals involved with the participant/family.
- Knowledge of child, adolescent, and family mental health and developmentally appropriate dynamics.
- Ability to work independently.
- Ability to incorporate therapy directives of Supervisor and MST Expert.
- Must attend the initial 5-day MST training and all quarterly booster trainings.
OTHER POSITION REQUIREMENTS
- This job requires a valid Hawaii driver's license, a clear driver's abstract, and use of personal vehicle to transport participants, as needed, as well as a willingness to travel in personal vehicle on an as-needed basis throughout the island.
- The nature of this position requires the incumbent to be on-call 24 hours a day, 7 days a week.
- Verification of licensure/certification will be required at time of appointment/hire, and continued employment is contingent on maintaining licensure/certification.
- This position is subject to a criminal background investigation and continued employment is contingent on a record clear of convictions.
- Continued employment in this position is contingent on successful completion of CPR, CPI and/or van driving training as such training is necessary to ensure ability/continued ability to perform essential functions of this job.
- Continued employment in this position is contingent on successful completion of CPI classes OR other Behavioral Management certification as may be contract mandated.
- Continued employment in this position is contingent on successful completion of First Aid classes.

Salary : $40,000 - $60,000
