SUMMARY OF DUTIES |
Under the supervision of the Early Head Start Supervisor, the Home Visitor is primarily responsible for providing service delivery that capitalizes on the home as the primary learning environment. The Home Visitor also provides to pregnant women and children with their family's comprehensive services that cover all the elements of Head Start program. EDUCATION AND TRAINING REQUIREMENTSHigh school, plus additional courses or specialized training at business or community college, or other formal training facility or program. Requires ability to understand and carry out assigned duties effectively. Knowledge needed such as computer skills necessary Other (Specify): Knowledge and experience in child development and early childhood education; the principles of child health, safety, and nutrition; adult learning principles; and family dynamics. AND have a minimum of a home-based CDA credential or compatible credential, or equivalent coursework as part of an associate or bachelor’s degree; and Demonstrate competency to plan and implement home-based learning experiences that ensure effective implementation of the home visiting curriculum and promote children’s progress across the standards described in the Head Start Learning Outcomes Framework: Ages Birth to Five, including for children with disabilities and dual language learners, as appropriate, and to build respectful, culturally responsive, and trusting relationships with families. | EXPERIENCE Over six months, up to and including one year Other (Specify): On-going monthly in-service training with topics focusing around but not limited to Child Development, Health & Safety, challenging behaviors, curriculum, working with parents etc.
| SPECIAL KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES REQUIRED |
- Must have excellent communication, organization, supervision and problem-solving skills, flexibility, and willingness to work as a team member.
- Experience with Pregnant Women and children ages 0-3 and their families.
- CPR and First Aid certification required upon hire.
- Knowledge of community resources and the skills to link families with appropriate agencies and services.
- Preferred experience with home visiting.
| OTHER POSITION REQUIREMENTS - This job requires a valid Hawaii driver's license, a clear driver's abstract, and use of agency vehicle to transport participants, as needed, as well as a willingness to travel in personal vehicle on an as-needed basis throughout the island.
