What are the responsibilities and job description for the Child Development Specialist/Early Intervention Specialist position at Child Development Network?
Child Development Specialists (CDS)/Early Interventionists provide community based ( in home or community locations) educational therapy to the families of infants and toddlers (birth to age 3) who have developmental delays or disabilities. This service is provided with a team of therapists depending on the needs of the child and family. The CDS demonstrates developmentally appropriate intervention strategies to help the child and family reach their greatest potential.
This position has a ton of flexibility (work as little or as much as you'd like) and you can build your caseload accordingly; caseload is built up gradually. Pay DOE $33-$40 per hour plus paid training, drive time, report writing, mileage, case management, paid health insurance, 401k opportunities, PTO and holiday pay.
Job description and responsibilities:
-Provide one-on-one intervention, maintaining weekly in-home/community visits to provide early intervention services.
-Schedule visits with the families that fit your schedule and the families schedule.
-Complete standardized developmental assessments and write professional reports.
-Design, implement, and adapt activities for language, cognitive, fine and gross motor, sensory, self-help, and social/emotional development, for each individual child utilizing best practices.
-Model appropriate and developmentally fitting adult-child interactions and provide written information on parenting and child development, as needed.
-Maintain confidential client records/files.
Education and Experience Requirements
-Must have a Bachelor’s degree or higher in Child Development, Child Psychology or in a related field or extensive experience in the field of early childhood education.
-Experience with young children and knowledge of typical child development.
-Hold a valid California Driver’s License with a good driving record and car insurance.
-Bilingual in Spanish is a plus but not required.
