Position Description
The Professional Development Advisor is a part of the Quality Improvement and Professional Development team. This role will provide professional development, advising, and technical assistance to programs and individuals in the Accelerated and Expedited Pathways for Parent Aware. This full-time position reports to the Director of Quality Improvement.
Duties and Responsibilities:
1. Provide technical assistance to Accelerated and Expedited Pathway programs and utilize the Develop Data system to maintain accurate records.
· Use the Develop Data system to execute the daily functions of Professional Development Advising and technical assistance for Accelerated and Expedited grants, ensuring participants’ data is up to date, private, protected, and secure.
· Utilize various methods such as phone, email, virtual meetings, in-person (as allowable), and webinars to provide technical assistance to support programs in their development. This includes goal setting and uploading of grant spending documentation in Develop.
· Accurately document interactions or support to programs by entering Relationship-Based Professional Development (RBPD) events in Develop database.
· Review program goals and complete verification process for spending in the Develop database.
· Using the Knowledge and Competency Framework to support educators in creating a training plan to meet Parent Aware requirements.
· Maintain an awareness of relevant, emerging strategies and trends to stay current on the Quality Rating and Improvement System work and Relationship-Based Professional Development best practices and provide accurate technical assistance.
2. Work collaboratively with the Quality Improvement and Professional Development teams to advise and provide technical assistance to Accelerated and Expedited Pathways participants.
· Partner with the Quality Improvement Coordinator to ensure seamless support for programs and providers in the Accelerated and Expedited Pathways.
· Partner with the Professional Development team to ensure that processes and protocols are implemented with integrity.
· Represent CCA and the Quality Improvement and Professional Development teams at statewide and organizational meetings as appropriate.
3. Facilitate career planning discussions with program leaders, individual teachers, and providers to help them create a professional development plan utilizing the Child Care Aware of MN Professional Development Touchpoints with actionable steps.
· Provide information on the MNCDA, the MNITCDA, TEACH scholarships, RETAIN bonuses, Higher Education degree programs, and Achieve
· Provide information on English classes for English Language Learner providers and those seeking options for completing a high school diploma or GED.
4. Provide input on innovative strategies to support programs and individuals’ professional development.
· Provide confirmation email to eligible Accelerated and Expedited Pathway grant programs.
· Conduct informational webinars as needed.
· Collaborate with Quality Improvement Coordinator and local grant administrator to complete spending processes.
Qualifications:
· Demonstrated intercultural competency skills and experience working cross-culturally, with a commitment to being anti-racist and a commitment to incorporating principles of diversity, equity, and inclusion into your work
· Associate’s degree in early childhood or related field with experience coaching and training adults
· Ability to work independently as well as with a team
· Strong organizational, problem-solving, and communication skills
· Able to work in a rapidly changing environment with demanding deadlines
· Independent worker/comfortable working with staff in remote locations
· Flexibility with the evolving changes and needs of the Child Care Aware of Minnesota system and the work
· Understanding of, and experience using, data systems

Compensation and Benefits
Salary range - $33,280 – $39,104 annually, plus an additional $2,000 a year for lifestyle expenses
