Job Description

Manage and oversee foster care cases by identifying strengths and needs of parents and children and connecting the family with services to meet their needs.

QUALIFICATIONS

Education

Bachelor’s Degree with a major in one of the following human services areas: social work, sociology, psychology, forensic psychology, education, community development, law enforcement, behavioral science, gerontology, special education, education of the emotionally disturbed, education of the gifted, family ecology, community services, family studies, family and/or child development, counseling psychology, criminal justice, human services, a human services-related counseling major, or interdisciplinary studies in social science.

12 week Child Welfare Institute Training as mandated by the State to be completed upon hire.

Experience

One to three years experience with foster care experience equivalent is preferred.

Must possess computer skills and have the ability to write reports, and give verbal reports.

Must have demonstrated skills to resolve problems, and handle complaints or request.

Have the ability to work in a team environment lead meetings and teach classes.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Conduct intake assessments for children and families upon placement in foster care
  • Gather background information and meet with children and families to asses needs and strengths
  • Develop behavior plans and provide treatment planning for foster children, biological families and foster families based on identified needs and strengths
  • Implement treatment plan and ensure adherence to plan recommendations
  • Provide reunification services to families and facilitate transitions into the home
  • Provide casework services to children placed in foster care under court jurisdiction due to abuse, neglect or delinquency.
  • Follow all guidelines for the licensing rules for Child Placing Agencies as outlined by the Department of Child Welfare Licensing
  • Act as a liaison between DHS, attorneys, counselors, schools, foster/biological parents and youth
  • Maintain weekly contact with children, biological parents and foster parents
  • Participate in case conferences by providing case summary and current status reports
  • Prepare initial and updated service plans and court reports.
  • Testify at review hearings, dispositional hearings and termination hearings.
  • Coordinate all visitations between foster children and biological family

Pay: From $21.22 per hour
