What are the responsibilities and job description for the Truck and Trailer Technician position at Chief?
Responsible for performing preventative maintenance and repair on trucks, trailers, shop and yard equipment to Company and DOT standards. Also involved with maintenance of cargo securement equipment, buildings, and grounds. Technicians complete all needed repairs keeping quality, safety and expediency at the forefront at all times. Technicians are also responsible for optimizing the economic use of shop equipment and supplies, inventory control, processing repair order paperwork, DOT and company forms. Maintenance technicians are a valuable asset to this Company and are relied upon their expertise daily to keep our fleet of trucks and trailers operating in top operating condition.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
- Diagnose and repair heavy-duty trucks and trailers, including preventative maintenance, inspections, repair of major component groups including engine, powertrain, brakes, suspension, steering, frame attachments, cargo securement equipment, with safety as a top priority. Identify, diagnose, and resolve truck and trailer related issues in major and minor component groups including electrical and APUs.
- Performs preventative maintenance (PM) on tractor and trailer equipment including routine technical repairs and documenting of repair orders.
- Document all work order details within the company’s internal order and billing program.
- Use effective interpersonal skills to maintain positive working relationships with all company personnel and external customers and vendors.
- Abide by all Company policies and safety rules and assist in maintaining a clean, safe working environment.
- Contribute to the goals of the Maintenance Department and company as a whole.
- Work additional hours in accordance with business needs and other demands of the position.
